Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Rudy Giuliani continues to drop in national and state polls following a seminal survey issued just two weeks ago by the Des Moines Register. That poll was the first to show Giuliani's campaign hurting as more Republicans recognize his pro-abortion view and newer polls show his numbers continuing to drop.
A new Rasmussen Reports daily presidential tracking poll showed the lowest numbers for Giuliani of any recent surveys.
Giuliani is now supported by just 21% of likely GOP voters while Fred Thompson is the top choice for 19%. Another seventeen percent are undecided while John McCain has the backing of 14 percent and Mitt Romney enjoys the support of 12 percent.
Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, is up to double digits for the first time and now has the support of 10% of Republicans nationally.
Looking at the daily tracking numbers from Rasmussen, Giuliani has steadily dropped from a high of 30 percent in the middle of October while Thompson and Romney have remained steady at about 20 percent and 15 percent respectively.
Huckabee has climbed as has McCain, the Arizona senator, who was as low as 8 percent in the middle of the month.
Polls in the early primary and caucus states also show Giuliani slumping and have Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, continuing to hold on to a solid lead.
In Iowa, two recent polls by Rasmussen and Strategic Vision find Romney at an average of 26 percent, Thompson and Huckabee at about 15 percent and Giuliani in fourth with 13 percent. McCain has the backing of just 5 percent of Republicans in Iowa.
New Hampshire polls have Romney averaging 27.5 percent in the last two surveys, Giuliani at 20.5 percent, McCain at 17 percent, Thompson at 9 percent and Huckabee at eight percent.
And a new survey released Thursday by SRBI Research showed Governor Romney leading with 32%, while 22% support former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. McCain received 15% while 7% support Congressman Ron Paul of Texas and 6% support former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.
Senator Fred Thompson finished 6th with only 5% in the survey.
South Carolina has a tighter race with Romney, Giuliani and Thompson all leading in recent polls and Nevada and Michigan has mixed results as well while Giuliani leads in Florida.
As they have done in the past, New Hampshire and Iowa will likely weed out lower-tier candidates and give a boost to the winner. But, as the polls stand now, Romney could have the most to gain from the two leading states and Giuliani could find himself having to play catch up.

Rudy gave a great speech at the 04 pubbie convention. At that time i though he would make a great candidate for 08.....then I found out about him...yuck city.

I would have no problem with Rooty Toot campaigning in the northeast for a real conservative. There is a role for him, just not what he has in mind.
Yes, stop the only liberal republican...for the sake of our country, party, conservatism, and life.

That is because the voters are starting to learn about the a real Rudy and not the 911 hype job
The more Rudy opens his mouth, the faster his poll numbers drop. Kind of like when his wife supposedly called during his speech when he screwed up the meaning of the 2nd amendment.

I am only just starting to get to know Huckabee but everything I'm learning tells me that he is not very conservative on taxes, spending, federalism, small government, free enterprise, private property, etc. I simply don't trust people who are not capitalists through and through.
The media and the ‘Rats would LOVE for Rooty to be the nominee, they will destroy him within a week. The fact that we already know so many negative things about Rooty leads me to believe that there are a lot more bombshells that are waiting to explode at the right moment.
well there are two types to watch out for
There are the so called fiscally responsible tax hikers. They would raise taxes to balance the budget. Think Hoover, Bob Dole and Bush #1. Huck is definitely in that category.
Then there are those who believe in taxes so that the rich pay their fair share. Huck has made statements that sound a lot like class envy but he is also for the Fair tax.
