CULLMAN, Ala. -- Members of one Ku Klux Klan organization say they will assemble at the courthouse Nov. 10 to show their opposition to another Klan group that plans an anti-immigration rally there that day.
Ken Mier, who described himself as an investigator for the Alabama Ku Klux Klan and the national office of the Ku Klux Klan LLC, said in an e-mail to The Cullman Times that his group is against the tactics of the National Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, which held an anti-immigration protest last month in Athens.
"We are opposed to the ignorance and stupidity as displayed by the individuals that thumbed their nose at the area churches by continuing to use racial slurs, threats and avoided Christian deportment," he said.
The newspaper's story Monday quoted Mier as saying his group was part of a silent protest at the Indiana-based National Knights' rally held in Athens in September. He said his organization also was disgusted that the National Knights would interfere with the Trail of Tears ride.
At the Athens protest, held several hours after thousands of motorcyclists traveled through the city on the annual Trail of Tears ride, several Klan members gave anti-immigration speeches, while several hundred people, some from area churches, protested the Klan activity.
The Cullman City Council has approved a permit for the National Knights to protest outside the courthouse Nov. 10. Cullman Mayor Donald Green said the second Klan group would have to get a permit, too.
Only in Alabama....
I might just go,,could get interesting,,
It’s a set-up..we’re trying to get another group to rally against the K that is rallying against the K that is rallying against the K
A pot calling the kettle......oh, wait.....
It would be funny to see what would happen if the Klan showed up an Anti-Immigration Rally where there was also a Pro-Immigration crowd counter demonstrating against the Anti-Immigration folks.
Think they’ll bring enough ammo? Shall we take up a collection?
"Shut th' hell up, ya mo-rawns! Yer blowin' our cover!"
Didn’t realize there were enough of those meatheads left to pull off something like this. I’m thinking it’ll be 2 guys protesting 3 guys.
If La Raza and the KKK mixed it up, who would you root for?...............I’m so confuuuuuused.................
Call them what you want,,,don’t under estimate these folks,,the worst beatin’ I’ve ever seen anyone get was by these folks, and he was a white fella,,in the end they don’t play.
It’s all a plot by ANSWER to get bigger crowds at their rallies...
Ya never know, the first group might be giving bigots a bad name.;-)
Out of the 10 klan members in Cullman, 6 are Feds “undercover.”
You could retitle the article “Feds protest FBI’ers” and still be accurate.
LOL! The surge is working!
I hail from Alabama. Makes a body proud.
A Klansman talking about Christian deportment? My, my.
Anyone know who/what/where the group was named after? What the hill is a ... ‘Ku Klux’?
Not the Klan.
A Klan rally to protest a Klan Rally....
These people are all crazy. I can’t believe this nonsense still exists in this country. UGH. Throw ‘em all in a coliseum with the LaRaza bunch and let ‘em fight it out. Idiots. I guess they won’t get it until they see that when we bleed, we all bleed red no matter what ‘race’ we are.
Why not,,,they would win..
