Was it your alcoholism that caused you to drink with idiots? Or was it your intelligence?

Colmes strikes me as quite a sleazy salamander. He calls Coulter down about antisemitism, and yet he and his ilk are Islamonazi abettors. Coulter did sprinkle a bit of salt on that slug’s back.

Thanks for the link. I watched the 10 part series version of the debate. D’Souza made some very good points but a couple of things that Hitchens brought up that D’Souza skipped or didn’t address: 1. The deism or theism of Spinoza 2. Why didn’t God bring Christianity sooner — humans existed for 200,000 years — and perhaps to the Chinese who where more advanced and would have been better at spreading the message? 3. How do you explain the good works of the Good Samaritan if Christianity wasn’t around?

D’Souza’s argument is that Christianity has many virtues that have helped civilize mankind with compassion being one of the dominant ones. The Greeks — Aristotle — didn’t look favorably on compassion. For him magnanimity was the most important virtue. I think the Greeks were compassionate but, perhaps, only toward their own people. D’Souza, I think, is making the argument for Christianity’s attempt to spread universal compassion as a civilizing influence. But Hitch thinks that all men are equally capable of compassion without the help of Christianity. What to believe?

“Thanks for the link. I watched the 10 part series version of the debate. “

I watched it also. I thought they both did a fair-to-middle job.

Your nicknames for Alan Colmes are hilarious. I am sorry I missed Ann Coulter kicking his backside, but am sure I'll catch the rerun some day.

I loathe Alan Colmes. When he married Monica Crowley's sister I told my husband that she'll have to put a flag over his face and shag him for glory.

"Colmes did his usual bit of jumping on Ann Coulter a little too much concerning her “perfected Jews” remarks,"

Colmes pretty much said if you're a Christian you're an anti-semite.

I think he weighs too much to be a cokehead. But it is a diet I haven’t tried. Based on his appearance at some of the TV events, alcohol most likely.

He makes me so frigging mad I often walk out of the room.

As for his wife, I remember reading that Victorian-era English girls were given the following marital advice: “Lay back, close your eyes and think of the Empire.” I’m sure the unfortunate Mrs. Colmes received similar advice.
