Hillary Clinton Grade: C-
Time magazine ^ | October 31, 2007 | by Mark Halperin

Posted on 10/31/2007 11:35:44 AM PDT by Baladas

Fell off the tough-shrill balance beam onto the "shrill" side — with a THUD. More defensive than usual, and at times too political and too hot tempered.

Borderline disastrous moment at the end when she gave an equivocal answer about drivers licenses for illegal immigrants in New York; it opened the door for her opponents to pounce by turning it into a character issue — and pounce they did.

The failure of her performance was cumulative, however, so only those watching the whole debate would see how weak her evening was. If she loses the nomination, tonight will go down in history as the first step to her defeat — — no fatal "Dean Scream" catastrophe, but far from her finest moment, to say the least.

Well, her lead is so huge she probably won't be affected by her performance yesterday that much, but this is the best of the Democrats running - the other two are inexperienced in comparison.

She's so out on the far left now, she'll never be able to pose as a centrist again. In the meantime, she should lay off the primary debates - there's only something to lose as far as she's concerned.

Maybe Bill will take Russert to the woodshed like he did Sam Donaldson. Hillary is accustomed to the media taking better care of her than Russert did last night. The new Democrats couldn’t survive a week with the treatment Republican candidates recieve from the MSM.

“it opened the door for her opponents to pounce by turning it into a character issue — and pounce they did.”

That was “pouncing”??

It looked to me like they were afraid she’d crush their gonads if they pounced on her. They treat her with kid gloves out of stark fear.

We should also point out that she said her experience came from 30 years as an advocate for educating children in Arkansas. Didn’t she raise the educational standards from a rank of 50 to 49?

She will win the nomination going away...

The Clintons are a cult and have enough money and fanatical voters to win the nomination from their party. Whether she wins the presidency depends on who the Republicans nominate. If it's anyone other than Rudy, she wins.

Nope. Exactly the opposite.

While she was ‘in charge’ the schools in AZ went from 49th to 50th.

Dems are still careful with Hillary - if you think she messed up - wait until she goes up against a Republican... and no, she can’t stay away from debates - the stories of her inability to come clean will haunt her - and haunt her - and haunt her.

The new Democrats couldn’t survive a week with the treatment Republican candidates recieve from the MSM.

That, my FRiend, is an undeniable fact. Any one of our candidates, even Dr. Demento, could make the entire Dem field look like circus clowns in a debate.

This just highlights what anyone paying attention to Shrillery has known for a long time. She's so far from being "the smartest woman in the world", she should be taking the short bus to her campaign stops. I don't think it'll matter much, though. When it comes down to the wire, the MSM will continue to provide deep cover for their "anointed one"

What proof do you have that she was ever on the far left? Once she has the nomination in had any evidence will be buried by the MSM and she will be shown as the reasonable moderate choice vs. far far right wing arch-conservatives like Giuliani.

C- is too high. From the part I saw, I would give her D-. The stupid smile and constant hand movements - meant to distract from her inability and/or unwillingness to answer questions. Flip-flopping, evasive, uninformed, muddled, at points looking silly and insincere - that is how I would describe her.

She’s been a senator for seven years - she’s been all over the place on Iraq and comes off as a fake. She made terrible votes, like the Rush Limbaugh “censureship”. Now this alliance with Spitzer, she’s taking the losing side again.

In any of these debates, she’s been unimpressive. The MSM will fawn at her feet and gloss over her liberal record, but they’re not all that significant anymore - she is going to have to do turn out all her base, and “men of color” will NOT vote for her, they will stay home.

If Mitt wins, the Christian Right stays home...if Fred wins the Clinton machine will eat him up...if McCain wins there won't be a Republican running for president.

She’s being coached. Her screaming came to a halt some time ago. Her coaches noticed that the public noticed that she was sounding like Hitler in her speaches. This really isn’t the true Hillary. Keep the pressure on her and the screaming will return. Keep asking for the sealed papers that she is hiding. They must be released if she wants to be President. The people have a right to see who their next President really is.

Rudy is no more of a Republican than McCain. He's more polished, but unless you confuse authoritarian with conservative, there really isn't much of anything conservative about Rudy.

...if Fred wins the Clinton machine will eat him up...

Sorry, but I really haven't seen evidence to support that. There is a lot of spin, but no real substance to most of the criticisms of Fred, and he sure handles a debate far better than Clinton.

I am troubled by Rudy backing out of the Senate race against Hillary when he had the chance to drive a stake through her political ambitions. I worry Clinton has something damning on him. But that doesn't take away from the fact that Rudy has shown that he can turn around a place as bad as New York and has the leadership to handle the 9-11 disaster.

I think Republicans will have to hold their nose over his gun-gay-abortion weakness and vote for him because he's the best choice to win against the Islamo-facists.

Rush’s entire show today was on Mrs. Clinton’s BOMB last night. On the illegals issue, let’s see, head cheerleader Andrea Mitchell said that she got caught on something that perhaps she wasn’t prepared for. Chrissy blamed it on her briefing book...it let her down.

Probably just due to the “D” besides her name.

But she’s really NOT that intelligent, at least politically speaking, and she’s been known to be very difficult to work with - Betsy and Dick, for two - and this “governing from the middle” thing is just left over from her husband’s terms, she can’t hide behind him anymore, though.

We gave the GOP both houses of Congress back in 1994, they totally screwed that up, we got Bush elected twice and he has been mediocre at best (if there hadn’t been a war, I have a feeling the GOP would view him even more unfavorably).

I’ll be damned if I am going to waste my vote for some leftist RINO whose ONLY DIFFERENCE with his opponent is an “R” after his name and a dress.

I hope Rooty Toot starts getting the message that conservatives WILL NOT let him win the presidency and if he actually cares about the Republican Party (which I don’t think he does) he will drop out of the race now and give some conservatives more access to the media and the money.

Then get ready for another 2-term Clinton presidency - and this time, they can do real damage.

It never ceases to amaze me that when faced with an awful choice between a Republican (who may not have all the "conservative" boxes in his resume' checked) and a Democrat who can do real damage to ALL the conservative issues, many "conservatives" opt to stay home or vote for some loon which guarantees the D will win - so they can "send a message."

With an imperfect Rebublican you at the least have a chance they you can make your case for your cause. With a Democrat, your doomed to wander the political wilderness for 8 years.

Belligerent? Oh, I think we can do better than that!

I'm sure Freepers could start up a list of questions no one would have the stones to ask Hillary in a debate or even an interview:

* Would you release your medical records? Followup: How many times have you contracted a venereal disease?

* Since you have a well-documented poor memory, inability to be trusted with documents (FBI records, Rose Law Firm billing records), and you will not release records of your activities as co-President, please explain how your 35 years of so-called service makes you qualified to be President?

* Will you have cigars in the Oval Office?

* Will Bill, as First Spouse, be allowed near the sink off the Oval Office?

* Do you prefer male or female interns (if your know what I mean...)?

C'mon Freepers, add to the list....
