Scary CSPI Steals Candy from Babies!
Capital Research Center ^ | October 31, 2007 | Charlie Szold

Posted on 10/31/2007 12:37:25 PM PDT by vadum

This Halloween night Capital Research Center wants to remind you that scary organizations like The Center for Science in the Public Interest don’t want you or your children to enjoy a night of sugar-filled fun.

Instead CSPI (website: www.cspi.org), a non-profit food watchdog group, wants you to hand out “spooky plastic rings” and “temporary tattoos” in lieu of Baby Ruths or Crunch Bars thereby ensuring the arrival of some fresh toilet paper in your tree by tomorrow morning. (See CSPI’s press release in PDF form at http://cspinet.org/new/pdf/halloween.pdf.)

The creepy CSPI recommends that parents have their children “save 5 treats to eat over the next 5 days” rather than let excited children enjoy their candy.

CSPI doesn’t seem to realize that most parents are sensible enough not to allow their children to gorge themselves on candy year round, but that’s to be expected from an organization that wants to dictate what you should be allowed to eat.

Nanny groups like CSPI, RWJF, and MADD are more of a danger to liberty than Al Qaeda.

Would these “spooky plastic rings” come from China and be laced with lead? I think the candy is safer!

Oh good grief...I went to the linked website and they are just practical suggestions for health and safety. For the record, I give out “ghost” bags with coffin whistles, spider rings, black and orange superballs, puzzles and such every year to kids. The kids love them so much they beg to come to my house every year and the parents appreciate that they don’t have to worry about checking the candy. It’s not some evil conspiracy, for cripe’s sake.

[sarcasm]LOOK OUT! IT’S CAVITY, THE DANGEROUS MAN-BEAST SEXUAL PREDATOR THING, PATROLLING THE STREETS LOOKING TO ABDUCT LITTLE CHILDRENS! O NOES~! [/sarcasm]

Seriously, if parents were that concerned about having children eating too much candy, they would at least regulate the intake of after collecting the dues from the neighborhood homes.

[sarcasm]This has been brought to you in part by the Dental Association of America[/sarcasm]

I agree. My kids love going through their “loot” when they come home, but they’re not given free reign to ingest whatever their little hearts desire! And I’m not even worried about their teeth...just the vomit I would have to clean up!

Halloween ‘Ugly Teeth’ recalled over high lead levels
CNN ^ | 10/31/2007 | AP

Posted on 10/31/2007 2:36:42 PM CDT by Red in Blue PA

WASHINGTON (AP) — The government announced an 11th-hour recall Wednesday to warn consumers that fake Halloween teeth sold by the tens of thousands since last year contain excessive amounts of lead.

The $2 packages of “Ugly Teeth” are only the latest in a long line of Chinese-made toys and novelty items recalled because of lead. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Halloween, in a late-morning news release.

If it were any other group I'd agree. But, then, CSPI is no ordinary group. They are the original food Nazi's who take controlling what you and your family eat very seriously.

It's miniature Butterfingers, Baby Ruths, 100 Grands, and Nestle's Crunch bars at our house, rounded out with jack-o-lantern lollipops. I figure I've covered at least four of the major food groups; milk( nougat), chocolate, protein (nuts), and pure sugar. ;o)

What the kiddiewinks on the street don't get, our teenage son will consume over the next couple of weeks.

Unsolicited parenting “tips” today, JBTs with guns, cuffs, and sub-70 IQ child placement services goons tomorrow. Are we still waiting for these particular nannies to get in bed with HMO lobbyists to turn their wish-lists into fascist laws, or is the camel already taking a dump on the rug? Won’t matter - the sheeple won’t raise a stink until their TVs or favorite spectator sports are threatened.

Yup, take a look at their ‘about’ page:

http://www.cspinet.org/about/index.html

Current goals of the CSPI

* Get junk foods out of schools nationwide;
* Rid the food supply of partially hydrogenated oil, the source of artificial trans fat that promotes heart disease;
* Reduce sodium in processed and restaurant foods;.
* Advocate for more healthy, plant-based, environmentally-friendly diets;
* Ensure accurate and honest labeling on food packages;
* Require basic nutrition labeling on chain-restaurants’ menus and menu boards;
* Provide responsible information about the benefits and risks of agricultural biotechnology;
* Obtain greater federal funding for alcohol-abuse prevention policies; and
* Expose industry influence over the scientific process and in government policy-making.

“CSPI’s accomplishments include leading the efforts to win passage of laws that require Nutrition Facts on packaged foods (and, later, to include trans fat on those labels), define the term “organic” for foods, and put warning notices on alcoholic beverages. CSPI also conducted eye-popping studies on the nutritional quality of restaurant meals and movie theater popcorn, helped to increase funding for the government’s food safety inspections and nutrition and physical activity programs, and spurred new policies in some cities and states to remove soda and junk foods from schools. CSPI also helped New York City adopt the nation’s first ordinances to ban trans fat from restaurants and list calorie information on menus and menu boards, and is working with other cities and states on similar measures.”

GAG ME (with chocolate!)

While I absolutly agree with your comment, I do have to make a correction to it.

RWJF is the MAJOR funding arm of both CSPI and MADD, as well as all anti-smoker groups and anti-2nd Amendment groups.

I don’t think they (cspi) have too much of a problem with thanksgiving as the turkey itself is very low fat. It’s all the side dishes and gravy that add up. but they haven’t said anything

My students in science class got a kick out of it when I told them that they all use a classification system when they take out all the loot they get on Halloween. They must have suggested at least 15 different ways they classify their candy.

I have been told pop-corn balls are put in the "hide from brothers and sisters candy"

CSPI has a YouTube video where they demonize Chinese food. It’s racist. It’s hate speech. And the “left” claims to be “tolerant”. Well I logged on to all three of my YouTube accounts and each account flagged the video for hate speech. And I urge all of you to do the same.

As far as I’m concerned, CSPI and RWJF and MADD are al-Qaeda. Michael Jacobson is a secret Islamofascist. He shaved his beard off to pass himself off as Jewish.
