Philadelphia Police Officer Shot in Head at Dunkin' Donuts Dies
Fox News ^ | 11-01-2007 | Fox

A police officer shot in the head by a doughnut shop robber died Thursday morning, the police commissioner announced.

The gunman went into the shop and demanded money just before Cassidy opened the door, said Sandra Kim, a Dunkin' Donuts employee who was behind the counter at the time. He then spun around and shot the officer as he held the door.

Cassidy was a regular customer who came in twice a day for a large coffee with cream and sugar, Kim said. "He's always nice to all the employees," she said. "The officer was just coming in for a cup of coffee like normal."

Quote from the article:

“Cassidy, a 25-year police veteran, was shot in the forehead as he walked into a Dunkin’ Donuts shop at around 10:30 a.m Wednesday.”

25 years. 25 years, and now murdered by some scumbag. What a shame.

I wonder why they didn’t release a description of the robber. That might actually help someone catch him.

The robber must be high on drugs to rob a donut shop instead of a bank. He would have encountered less cops if he robbed the evidence locker at police headquarters.

Just a thought but, perhaps they were more worried about being called racists.

Same reason as usual. The perp is something other then white. If he was a white it would have been mentioned in the first couple of paragraphs.

Are you kidding? It would probably be the headline.

They have a videotape of the robber (it was on Phila. news last night) and they think he was the same man who robbed the same Dunkin’ Donuts store in Sept. (obviously not caught then). He wears a dark hooded sweatshirt way down over his face and even with a video, it’s very difficult to describe his looks.

I am willing to bet if he gets caught he will have a record that should have kept him in jail

I heard the scumbag mayor of Philthadelphia on my radio today talking about doing something about “these guns”. That’s right - - not a word about the perp, just a finger of blame pointed at the gun. It was the gun’s fault the officer was shot.

The police commissioner should have been retired long ago. He is 3 points above plant life. Mayor Street keeps him on for what? Philadelphia is a mess. The mayor told supporters at a meeting a few years ago that the “brothers are in charge” and that is certainly true. Total charge.
Many folks we know refuse to go to Philadelphia for any reason. Things have become that bad. It is open season on humans.

Yes, with video it's hard.
But there were people in the store, it was broad daylight, and you can very easily see someone's face under those circumstances. I'm sure the witnesses might be able to tell more... they usually can...

Gee, Lynne Abraham is and has been DA all these years, and Fast Eddie is Governor and was mayor. In all their time on watch Philly has sank into a bloody hell. And all they yap about is "guns".

Well guns are the answer. The best thing a Governor is such a situation can do is to "call out" the unorganized militia. Start a program to encourage and train sane, upstanding citizens to carry guns openly. Pay citizens say $500 for attending ten sessions of an "How to Open Carry" course and then agreeing to carry their guns openly for 18 months while in the City.
