What do you think the cooks at H&H cafeteria think of all this? I seem to remember the Allman’s as being white according to the pics on the wall.
Ok, we are having fried catfish in this cracker shack tomorrow.
God I hated Macon. We moved there from Washington, DC and I never could find a “downtown.” I actually asked someone the first time there where it was and he just looked at me. I was in the middle of it.
Worse. I live in Perry.
If it was PC, I hate to tell them but that was necessary...and silly to stop at that point.
I once made a list of things Mom used to feed or threaten to feed us kids, things that were from the Old Country that Grandmom routinely served her, that are commonly considered "soul food".
I hate the legal bastards who threaten organizations with predictions of dire consequences shold they ever get sued for race discrimination and they haven't bought thier "sensitivity training".
I've stated it many times that the money spent on those jerks should go to a different ethnic/cultural/whatever group every month, to be spent on food and just food for a group lunch.
My rationale is this, everybody but the English have something good in their cusine. That's a positive experience with a different culture. It breaksdown a barrier and encourages further interaction and tolerance. And it's really hard to hate someone who feeds you.
You.must.not.like.catfish. It.does.not.fit.the.profile!
Funny you say that bit. I was on a food board the other day and they were bemoaning the lack of black chefs on a particular channel. And the lack of “afican-american” cuisine. But, if you mention fried chicken, catfish, collards, hoe cakes etc and are white.....dude you best be white trash on the end of the dirt road past the trailers, cuz otherwise you are a racist. And even if you are from that road...you’re a cracker and a racist.
Feh, a pox on their houses.
While fishing in Philly as a kid, if you caught catfish or carp, you threw them back.
I personally do not eat catfish, but it’s BIG around here, blacks and whites eat it. And fried chicken too. And greens.
Maybe they should have offered the prisoners Crab Leo????
I’m white and of Irish extraction. Do I get potatoes and hash? What do we Irish have to do to get chicken, catfish, coke and biscuits? Do we get all the whiskey, or do I have to keep drinking Liberty Valance’s single malts?
And no conebread! Dey wuzz gonna feed dem prizznuhs and not give dem no watermelon and no conebread. Das jes' niggardly.
That's because they are bottom feeders (and carp are bony). Would you want to eat something at the bottom of Philly's rivers?
Liberty, God bless your pointy little head. LOL! God bless your whiskey too!
I agree, as long as the cook isn't niggardly with the portions.
I thought you’d enjoy the thread, plus you-know-the-area ping
I’m not seeing any reader’s comments anywhere on that page...How do you reach them?
Unfortunately, the liberal editors REMOVED all the comments this morning! It is a shame because some were pretty hilarious and spot on!
Folks were raising H (appropriately) about how ridiculous this PC crap has become and how the race baiters jump on the bandwagon at any given chance, and how only whites are considered RACIST, yet blacks can say any damned thing they want, including liberal use of the N word in their music, etc.
I think folks need to celebrate their cultural differences, and recognize the things they have in common like enjoying some good Southern cooking. I personally LOVE fried chicken and catfish, biscuits and greens and I am white.
sounds like a fine meal for those boys. Many folks would be happy to have the opportunity for a good hot meal.
Well, at least I know it’s not lack of intelligence on my part for not seeing the link to the comments! :-D Too bad; I would have liked to have read them.
Glad you said that. I was feeling pretty stupid about not being able to find the comments :)
Heck, I'm still looking to see what was offensive as the "reporter" deemed it not fit to mention.
