Dog throws himself to the Sharptons
American Thinker ^ | November 2, 2007 | Marc Sheppard

...It would seem that Political Correctness gone mad has bestowed upon one Alfred Sharpton Jr. more power over media careers than even the FCC...

I’m by no means defending the despicable language of the aptly nicknamed Mr. Chapman. However, on balance, his alleged transgressions are but words, no more, no less...

Still, what he said was very disappointing and wrong.

Robert Byrd should have lost his Senate seat for dropping N-Bombs on fox News and A&E has every right to fire the Dog for using the N-Word.

Moreover, anyone who goes around saying that word, no matter their race, is not only moronic but is pond scum.

If I was in a media storm over using some racist term, I would agree to meet with Flava Flav instead of Sharpton.

It depends on his contract with A&E. Very few contracts (maybe none) permit one to be fire for a private conservation with one's own son that contains nothing illegal.

In Imus' case, CBS was the guilty party. IMO, Dog has a lucrative lawsuit here.

I'm betting just about every contract involving an entertainer has some sort of vague, boilerplate language about reflecting negatively on the show or network, moral turpitude, etc. That kind of stuff.

Whether his conduct was illegal or not makes zero difference.

If his son had gone to the media and reported that Dog used the N-word then nothing would have happened.

However, the conversation is no longer private when it is taped and broadcast on the Net and TV. And yes, the Dog should have understood that he may have been being taped.

And now, his former employer and everyone in the country knows that the Dog is a moron.

I do not Dog’s statements disappointing since I never expected him to quote Shakespeare or lisp like Al Gore. Have people not heard the trash talking during a NFL game? Much worse things are said about your mother or daughter. Will next be tape-recordings of NFL players?

The Dog does not have a case against A&E.

It depends on the contract. In this day and age, however, almost everyone has a case. Take a look at Howard Stern suing Rita Cosby and her publisher. A farce. He is also suing all kinds of other people, possibly hoping they will settle to make him go away.

If R. Lee Ermey ran the world...

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: "If you ladies leave my island, if you survive recruit training, you will be a weapon. You will be a minister of death praying for war. But until that day you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even human, f***ing beings. You are nothing but unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian s***. Because I am hard you will not like me. But the more you hate me the more you will learn. I am hard but I am fair. There is no racial bigotry here. I do not look down on niggers, kikes, wops, or greasers. Here you are all equally worthless. And my orders are to weed out all non-hackers who do not pack the gear to serve in my beloved Corps. Do you maggots understand that?"

“Moreover, anyone who goes around saying that word, no matter their race,”

Jeez, get over it already. Seriously, IT’S A FREAKIN’ WORD! Reading posts like yours makes me want to shout it from the mountain tops.

At it’s worst, the definition of “nigger” is a derogatory word for blacks.

At it’s best it’s a street term for familiarity or friendship.

All groups, not just racial or ethnic either, are described by their detractors by using “slurs”. We do it to a number of groups on this board all day, EVERY day.

What makes black people better than everyone else? Are you putting forth the notion that every “group” in the country reserves the right to censor every word someone uses to describe them if they don’t like it?

“Nigger” is the most powerful word in the world. People who think like YOU made it that way. You expect nobody to use it?

Outrageous people say and do outrageous things. No surprise here. A&E knew Mr. Chapman was no William Buckley. They should also know the apples don’t fall far from the tree. As I have many times cautioned my son, “Remember, Dearest Child, that smokin’ hot babe comes with a family, too, and THEY may be more than you want to cozy up to at Christmas and Thanksgiving.”

A&E weren’t looking for the Cleavers. They wanted the Chapmans — so they should suck it up and go on with the show.

And every media contract has a moral turpitude clause and the Dog has obviously violated that.

Unless the Dog can find a civil jury that believes that calling someone a “N!663R is okay he is out of luck.

I do not know about your family but that is not a word we use at my house.

All I have said is that the Dog is a moron for using that word and A&E has every right to fire him.

And now apparently people want to make Dog out to be a poor Victim.
