Maybe the finest example of Global Warming Derangement Syndrome to date is the claim by an Australian mammologist and paleontologist that climate change has reduced circumcision rates in Africa.

If you read the entire article....the older dudes are getting the younger wives. I personally don’t see an issue with this and wish this of stuff would happen in the states. Its good to see that we have experts on this kinda stuff.

What about the female circumcision, better understood as female genital mutilation? The weather affect that??

If, according this his mammologist/paleontologist, the low circumcision rate is due to “climate change” because of the drought not letting the young fellers accumulate enough goodies to get married to their intended chickies then I guess climate change/gorebal warming has never happened throughout history...

The problem has been aggravated by a lack of funding for the procedure. There were circumcision subsidies but they were sliced.

The Samburu circumcise their youths in grand ceremonies, which are held every seven years or so, when enough cattle and other foods have accumulated to support such celebrations. Circumcision represents a transition to manhood, and until a youth has passed it he can't marry. But it's been 14 years since a circumcision ceremony has been held here. There are now 40,000 uncircumcised young men, some in their late 20s, waiting their turn. All of the eligible young women, tired of waiting, have married older men (multiple wives are allowed), so there are no wives for the new initiates.

This is more the result of polygamy and the 'alpha' males preventing the younger men from getting wives so the alpha males can have multiple wives. I think polygamy is one of the worst evils inflicted on a people.

On one hand, I can understand wanting to have a good steak dinner, before getting my package lopped off.

On the other hand, a culture too stupid to adapt to a drought, probably isn't long for this world, anyway.

Like they say, don’t eat the cold cuts at a circumcision.
Of course if they do enough at one time it MAY help put a dent in the food shortage.

When I saw the heading on this it brought back a memory.

Seems like I read somewhere once that some tribes who practice ritual adolescent circumcision bury the initiates in sand after the procedure to staunch the bleeding.

Perhaps Global Warming has heated the sand to temperatures too hot for bearable healing?

RE: "I haven’t heard anything from algore since they found tree stumps in the arctic."

AL GORE is a stump himself, but I don't really think it's OVER yet. Matt Lauer referred to Al Gore on national TV (on Monday?) as (barf) 'one of the world's great scientific minds' or some such, then, in another snippet, I heard a nameless 'announcer-type', in his best (patronizing) 'PSA' voice, say that CO2 was the 'cause of global warming'. (No, NOT a 'result of', nor a 'possible' cause, nor a 'contributing' cause, but THE cause!)

This week, I am going to go buy up all the Kool-aid stock I lay my hands upon because, without a doubt, there is STILL a HUGE demand.

It appears, given the 'help' of the media, it is going to be 'a long cold Winter' before the general public comes to the obvious conclusion that the ex-vice-prevaricator is NOT a scientist, and perhaps longer still until they tumble to the fact that he, maligning the name of 'climate science', is puttin' out nothing but total 'horse poop'.

Sadly, 'Journalist' Matt Lauer evidently missed this article during his 'extensive research' on Algore...

“For all of Gore’s later fascination with science and technology, he often struggled academically in those subjects. The political champion of the natural world received that sophomore D in Natural Sciences 6 (Man’s Place in Nature) and then got a C-plus in Natural Sciences 118 his senior year. The self-proclaimed inventor of the Internet avoided all courses in mathematics and logic throughout college...”

RE: "I feel bad for Gore that he sucked at college..."

You're WAY more charitable than I am on that subject.   I think Gore is just an opportunist.

What 'infuriates' me is his apparent reliance upon the 'Goebbels Method' (later popularized by the Clintons)...

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.   The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie.   It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”--Joseph Goebbels

to 'sell' his particular pile of bovine excretement, and the apparent willingness of the Kool-aid drinking public to suck it up as gospel.
