Most readers have by now heard about the divine revelations granted to various educators at the University of Delaware and the resultant Articles of Faith swiftly promulgated thereafter. It seems that all whites are racists and those students who do not believe this outlandish assertion (masquerading as scientific fact) are guilty of heresy and must be re-educated. Two recent articles Brave Newark World by Mike S. Adams, and Brave New Schools by Bob Unruh provide the gruesome specifics. I suspect other columnists have weighed in as well.
Sadly, I must number myself amongst the heretics, since my intellectual integrity compels me to express genuine horror at the universitys professed creed. I trust that those reading this article share my conviction. I suspect, however, that many do not necessarily share my outrage, since I am offended not only by the premise but by what it conveys about so-called liberalism in this country today. In fact, I present this travesty as prima facie evidence of my long-held assertion that there is no longer any real liberalism in this country or, at least, nothing significant.
Liberalism, in its purest form, has nothing whatsoever to do with politics. It refers more accurately to a philosophical state of open-mindedness. Examples abound. The Founding Fathers were all liberal in the sense that having ultimately rejected the notion of an American monarchy they were willing to consider the form of government that would eventually evolve into what we have today. With the last example, liberalism again suggests open-mindedness, along with willingness to accept the possibility of change and, as we know, political philosophers like Thomas Jefferson opined that it even might be beneficial to tear down the government after some designated period of time (e. g., 19 years).

blah blah blah..liberalism equals totalitarianism. As a philosophy, it requires police state coercion to prosper.
Our universities are all turning into little totalitarian states.
I just had an email exchange with friend who is head of a hiring committee. We agreed that it’s sometimes possible to veto a really bad candidate, since the committee has to reach a consensus, but that it’s virtually impossible to hire a good candidate, should one succeed in arriving through the process and present himself.
So you end up hiring the second worst, usually—and that’s in the unusual circumstance that at least one member of the committee happens to be sane.
