Thousands of anti-war protesters surged onto the rain-soaked lawn of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. It was Saturday. Skies were gray and, across the street, so were the faces of the counter-protesters. All three.
We would have more people but there were conflicts in scheduling, Joyce Fisher said at a lonely sidewalk outpost at Seventh and Market streets.
She wore a button on her coat Surge to Victory and lifted a hand-lettered sign, WE GAVE [PEACE SIGN] A CHANCE WE GOT 9/11.
The sign did not bait the Big Media, which preferred trolling the sea of colorful marchers who cavorted, blew horns and banged drums.
You will notice that the National Park Service police are on that side of the street, and not ours, Fisher bragged.
That's because there are 3,000 of them, I said, pointing to the protesters, and only three of you.
That, too, she said.
The protesters passed us. Their signs bashed Bush and the war. WAGE PEACE. SURGE THEM HOME. THE WAR IN IRAQ IS A WAR FOR ISRAEL.
The pro-warriors were glum.
Over here, they scream for peace, but when they are over there, they encourage jihadism, said Raoul Deming, whose daughter serves in the Navy.
Bob Kurth of Sewell, N.J., held an American flag.
You cannot support the troops if you are working toward their failure. These people should be in Iraq protesting al-Qaida, he said.
Every few minutes, a protester approached the trio to argue. Fisher held a large American flag on a pole. She positioned herself so the strong breeze would make the flag slap the protester in the face.
I don't care for these people, she said. I have been to Walter Reed [Army Medical Center], where they hold signs that say "Maimed for a lie.' The soldiers and their families see that. These people are vicious.
About then, the Rev. Al Krass from Levittown, who traveled to the city to join the protest, stepped from the crowd and warmly greeted me.
Afterward, I turned to the three pro-warriors and shrugged.
He's a good guy, I said.
The passing crowd grew larger and noisier. The trio huddled. What shall we shout? one of them asked. They decided on Traitors, go home! which they belted out in unison above the banging, singing and chanting.
This bothered some of the protesters, who countered with angry shouts and put-downs. The police quietly calmed them.
Kurth noticed how few American flags were carried by the anti-warriors. He shouted, Where are your American flags? Did you burn them all in the '60s?
Middle fingers were raised at him.
Suddenly, seven men in bright green hats emblazoned with National Lawyers Guild LEGAL OBSERVER arrived and stood in front of the trio. More arrived, until there were 13 legal observers in all.
They formed a wall in front of Fisher, Deming and Kurth, blocking the media from seeing the pro-war signs. Again, the cops broke it up.
Kurth called the green hats Communists, and one of the 13 smiled and tipped his hat at us.
It was like this through the afternoon three against 3,000.
Kurth waved his American flag at them.
That's the problem with democracy. Sometimes the majority is wrong, he said, as a protester across the street shot him the finger.
I'll post up my additions bit by bit in the comments.
Thank you for standing tall, our FRiend.
Great job you three!!

BTTT
Congratulations and thank you very much.
That takes real backbone.
Thanks again.
You folks are my heroes!!!!
God Bless Ya!!!
Sounds like you seriously outnumbered them. 3,000 X 0 < 3. Way to go!!
Sounds like 3,000+1, if you count the reporter.
WTG. LOve the way they tried to shelter you guys from the media.
Wow, you’d think that we’d have more people.
You have quite a set; a true credit to FR and your country. God bless you.
Thanks for being there, Raoul.
DC Chapter ping.
You’re the best Doc!
Very well done, Doctor Raoul and the other two heroes. Those vile commie pigs who stood in front of you...lawyers???? Figures.
She was prepared to do a solo FREEP, but luckily myself and a Gathering of Eagles gentlemen were able to make it. Hey, there's enough hippies to go around for everyone to FREEP.
JoyjoyFromNJ and GOE Bob arrived on station before I did. They set up about an hour before the scheduled march was to make it to Independence Mall where their rally would start. As I cruised by, I noticed about a dozen moonbats standing at the curb with signs trying to attract attention, so I decided I'd have some fun with them.
I parked my car, but rather than go directly to my fellow patriots, I grabbed just a Che flag and came up behind the moonbats with the flag between outstretched arms.
I was greeted like a Rock Star! Cris of "Yeah Che" and "We like Che" even, "Che is such a handsome man, I always liked that photo of him" railed down from the moonbats.
The little old granny with her peace sign that always loved Che even had me turn around my flag so the slogan was facing the right way. I stayed with them for about 15 minutes and not one person from the "peace movement" objected to the presence of a cold blooded killer at their event. I did receive a lot of peace signs. You'd hope that not all members of Veterans For Peace are brain dead traitors, but unfortunately the two who stood there were...they had no problem with Che.
So I wrap up Che and put him in a jacket pocket and head to the information center to use the facilities and as I enter there a 60 or so year old guy with a black t-shirt with the red "A in a hole" symbol of the a-holes known as "anarchists". This guy could have been there in PJs with a trap door and feet on the legs, and I would have not noticed. He was living proof that evolution is a failed theory, anyone that dumb should have died off long before their 60s.
Nobody arranged a FREEP, plus our side went to the rededication of the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
We were a show of force, just to let the scumbags know they're losing the battle.
The others were GOE Bob, JoyjoyFromNJ and there was a gentleman named Frank who lived in the area and held a flag and stood with us for most of the FREEP.
GOE Bob was also prepared to stand there solo if he had to.
Way to go.
Doc and Joy: Great work!
Seems like 1,000 to one odds are about right. The protestors were hopelessly outnumbered and didn’t even know it.
I’m glad the cops busted up the good little commie legal observers trying to block youi from the media.
Make sure one of them doesn’t bring his hat down on someone’s head. This is Philly we’re talking about.
As usual, You show how Patriots should act.
3,000 unwashed heathen versus 3 Patriots = No contest
Keep up the good work.
Leo
So as we're waiting, we chatted with the Civil Affairs unit folks from the Philadelphia Police unit, dropping a few pieces of intelligence on some of the DC protesters that were in town, like pointing out Desiree Ali-Fairooz, the Code Pinko loon who menaced Secretary Rice and Adam Kokesh, the IVAW elected official who had been charged by police with three felonies for bringing a gun on a college campus in California.
As usual, the moonbats were just foaming at the mouth that there was ANY opposition to their event. All we had was flags and signs, no stage, no sound system. But being the fascists that they are, their idea of free speech and protest is that only they are entitled to free speech and protest.
So there was a substantial number that came to their curb. Lots of hate for a peace march. I can't say I felt the love, because there was none. They were angry, very angry.
One guy stood there and let the rally go on without him, preferring to stare across with hate in his eyes, playing tough guy and acting threatening. No doubt if the police were not present, he'd have gotten violent. He looked familiar and when I checked him out, guess what, he's a member of the same club and Jessie Macbeth, the Iraq Veterans Against the War. And guess what, the guy got out as a Conscientious Objector. Figures, these people do not want peace, they want to fight Americans, they want America to lose.
A little late, the moonbat march arrived and we did chat "Traitors Go Home". At that point, I believe it was just three of us, but we dominated. They had no spirit, no nothing. Some looked embarrassed, as well they should have. The main reason for chanting "Traitors Go Home" is that the head of the march were the old bastards from the Vietnam Veterans Against the War who smeared the 60s generation of military. They thought it good to march chanting military cadence and lead the march. That wasnt going to happen without a challenge.
We got the better of them. All of them as they marched past.
That is outstanding. You three were amazing. Looks like one FReeper in Philly is worth 1,000 moonbats!
Desiree Ali-Fairooz and Liz Hourican who were arrested when Code Pink threatened Sec. Rice spoke, but nothing coherent.
During the Iraq Veterans Against the War, we chanted, Wheres Jesse MacBeth?
Nothing goes unchallenged.
Great, great work, JoyJoy!!!!
There was one attempt by the moonbats, actually it was mostly Paulistinians, to invade our permitted side of the street. They played the normal all of America is a free speech zone crap they normally do. One said, what law am I violating and one officer rattled off six or seven in quick succession. They were less belligerent with the police after that and they were more respectful, but they didnt leave for a while.
When a large number of Police and rangers crossed the street, two peace protesters riding the Paulistian coattails decided to more outside arrest range.
Ultimately they left, but not after a bunch of pissing and moaning.
During the couple of hours we were there, we were interviewed by Fox 29, the Philadelphia Inquirer and this columnist.
WE GAVE [PEACE SIGN] A CHANCE WE GOT 9/11
Thanks to you 2 and GOE Bob!
As was the case last time, we interacted with numerous tourists and held an impromptu teach in on who was across the street and what they really stood for. In the ranks of the tourists were numerous active duty folks who you could tell were VERY interested in background of the moonbats.
And a thousand apologies to the Freeper from out of town and his three family members who were with him visiting Independence Hall for not writing down his screen name and being able to give them credit for stopping by. Old age is tough in recall. As has happened before, it was a case of being somewhere and hearing something and saying, That sounds like Freepers and in this case, it was.
The moonbat crowd thinned noticeably and steadily during their rally. At the end, there was 300-400 left. Guess I dont blame them, as they were not having as much fun as us.
With people like Dr. Raoul...we didn’t NEED more people...:)
She did a heck of a job that day.
Everyone who shows up counts, counts for a lot. It’s very humbling to have a servicemember thank you for your doing this kind of counter-protest. You also deprive the bad guys from saying everyone’s with them on this war, that they represent the mainstream.
GOE Bob and Frank, too! Thank you for standing tall against the commies. FReep On!
Also, any counter-protest, no matter how small, deprives the moonabts of their Mardi Gras atmosphere. They really get bummed out. And that cuts into their numbers over time, as we saw in DC.
This one was a bit more sedate than the one here last year.
Excellent point, Dr. Raoul...Excellent point.
You guys are doing the fighting on the home front.
There was a protest in Montclair, NJ earlier this year. A ton of protesters. They had signs listing the dead soldiers in Iraq.
I wondered if I was doing the right thing as I walked along chanting the name, age and occupation of 9/11 victims. Reading your report confirms my belief that the madness must be confronted. [Note that some of the protesters that day were coherent.]
Thanks for being an inspiration.
If you ever need reinforcements, there's people who will join you and now that GOE and FR are coordinating efforts, it's easier.
“This thread is in lieu of an After Action Report on last Saturday’s FREEP of the United for Peace and Justice regional rally in Philadelphia at Independence Hall.
I’ll post up my additions bit by bit in the comments.”
Thank you sir. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.
You really are an inspiration.
Thanks for being there. As always, the moonbats can’t stomach any counter protest, no matter how small.
[Mr] T
I don’t understand this Communist lawyer stuff. As utopians, they make themselves enemies of all that is. But somehow the United States judicial system is their playground?
