Thanks AB & Good Morning to EveryOne! Thanks also to Johnnie & snugs for the honor. I am taking off this week, looking forward to reading your chat later in the night.

Here 's this sunday's Media Nuggets

###### Why MSM shower praise on Powell? Because Powell Tried To Use Blair To Undermine Bush.

###### If things are so bad, why are they so good? -> Despite the Gloom, More Bush Boom.

###### Giving "Journalists" what they deserve! Get a Clue from Germany! Big Brother Eyes German Journalists. It may soon no longer be a good idea to tell a journalist something confidential over the phone in Germany. It would also perhaps be prudent to avoid sending e-mails, faxes or text messages. In the future, sources might be better off furtively intercepting reporters on their way home, writing letters, or sending smoke signals. Good Job, Merkel!

###### Journalism Confusion! -> Violence In Iraq Way Down. Escalating violence = civil war & Decreasing violence = confused journalists!

###### A Challenge to Time Magazine! -> to Get Their Facts Straight on Iraq reportage.

###### MSM Reporter bully U.S soldier in Baghdad Calvan, a Baghdad correspondent for McClatchy Newspapers admits his efforts to "bully" a U.S. soldier who stopped him at a checkpoint outside the Green Zone. Now there are demands that McClatchy should recall that Baghdad reporter

###### Wash.TrashPost Reporting 101 -> Success of Military not worth Front page reporting, NEVER.

###### NYTimes writer's Lie exposed -> with Video as proof, on Fred Thompson reportage. And, that 's not the only time.

###### 'Newsweek' to Cut 500,000 From Rate Base. Circulation Guarantee to Advertisers Dropped to 2.6Million.

###### Herald-Tribune Media Group Cutting Jobs and a section completely. It 's part of the NYTimes Co.

###### Several Big Newspapers' circulation fall -> to the highs of over 7% including Atlanta Journal-Constitution, South Florida Sun-Sentinel, San Diego Union-Tribune, Miami Herald and Dallas Morning News.

This Just In .......

*** Awakenings -> The Schiavo case revisited..

*** Speakeasy! Karl Rove.

*** CNN sent Bobbie Batista to Retirement, now she co-hosts the Retirement Living Channel!

*** Clinton Scandals -> Up for Auction!

Good morning.

It appears this has been a very slow news week. About the only couple of things that seem to be of use are the Mukasey nomination and the Democrats’ debate, in which Hillary bombed.

Unusually, we’re not seeing the usual talking heads on the Mukasey nomination so I guess the MSM is giving the committee a pass.

And then there’s Hillary... since she’s already made the rounds and probably feels too aloof to give it another go, she has sent a lackey to try and save face/spin this in a positive way. After all, we all remember “the cackle.”

NBC’s got Fred, not surprising since Fred worked for and collected a paycheck from NBC up until the point he announced for President. Russert is typically a softie to Dems and a pompous @$$ to Republicans; let’s see if he’s even more of a pompous @$$ than usual. Fred seems to handle himself very well under pressure, so this should be very interesting.

The rest is a pretty ho-hum collection. We have Edwards on ABC and Biden on CBS. Fox, I’m not sure where they’re going with this line of interviewees, but G.H.W. Bush should be a good interview.

Ratings coming up...

Excellent catch on how Powell tried to use Tony Blair to beat up on GW (more BDS on Powell's part?) and even more revealing how Blair always folded in the presence of GW.

When you stop and think about all the BS President Bush has endured in his two terms you have to wonder how he remains such a gentleman right to the end. The guy is truly a class act no question.

You might no always agree with what he does but its impossible not to respect our President unless you are truly deranged.

Powell was listed by the UK Telegraph among the most influential “liberals” and omitted from the conservative list. That alone is evidence of Powell’s political leanings even though he claimed to be on our side.

Powell is mostly a RINO and proves it when he speaks on issues.

The BIG news of the week was that the newsies — and weatheries — finally got a hurricane.

The prediction of 7 seems to have fallen short, but at least, they got one -- finally. They were orgasmic in their reporting, as this hurricane sustained Category 1 strength for a whole 6 hours, more or less.

I’m not really all that convinced of the Telegraph’s accuracy on a lot of their listings.

For instance, off the top of my head, I remember they listed Glenn Beck in the top 20 conservatives, above even the President. Beck is a half-rate talk show host and humorist.

I could agree with numerous comments, pro and con, on the lists and specifically how influential a specific person is, but by and large the list is pretty accurate from what I read. It will be interesting to read the follow ups as the writers tour America this next year.

If things are so bad, why are they so good?

In fact, following the 3.8 percent growth rate for the second quarter, the U.S. economy has posted its strongest quarterly growth in four years.

But listening to the Democratic presidential debate on Tuesday, you'd think it was 1929 all over again.

The print and broadcast media do not give President Bush much credit for his economic policies. But somehow I have to wonder whether low unemployment, strong growth, negligible inflation and record stock markets do not deserve just a bit of praise.

It is still the greatest story never told.

Oh anita. What a great article. I copied some of that article for this thread. That first sentence of the last actual paragraph and the last line are so powerful. The DBM is ignoring the good news entirely. I really despise the broadcast and print media these days. Thank God for FR.

It was a slow week but here's a little story I ran across and then followed up on, it's verrrry interesting.

Earlier this week I was listening to the Joyce Kaufman show which airs from 2-5 PM Eastern on WFTL AM 850 out of S. Fla.(Ft.Lauderdale I believe) and heard on the web as well.

The day I listened Steve Malzberg had picked up WFTL for the day on his syndicated show originated out of NJ on WOR. I thought I heard a reference to "38 million illegals" on his show as I listened while I worked and you all know how that can go.

On a long shot I e-mailed Malzberg if that really was the case and he e-mailed me back with this link. Many thanks to Malzberg for the link.

http://www.insight-report.com/ Checking that out and several others that all linked to the story I wound up Reading portions of "The Social Contract" written by James H. Walsh Volume 17,Number 4 written in the Summer of 2007. Turns out Walsh(not the Congressman)is a former Federal Prosecutor and U.S. -German Marshall Fund Scholar in the field of immigration.(in other words he knows what he is talking about)

Two paragraphs from an article I found "Illegal Aliens" Counting the Uncountable" will give you a good idea of how Walsh comes to the figure of 38 million illegals as opposed to the other figures from 3-20 million that are routinely bandied about by the drivers by.

The following is a Summary paragraph: "No exact head count exists for the ghost population of illegal aliens residing in the U.S. Data compiled by the U.S. census bureau(USCB) and by national survey, governmental agencies, non government statistics-keeping agencies, philanthropic organizations, religious charities, and immigrant advocates are used in estimates ranging from 7 million to 20 million. This article demonstrates that this number is closer to 2 times 20 million."

The following paragraph gives and even better summary of how Walsh got to the 38 million number.

"My estimate of 38 million illegal aliens residing in the U.S. is calculated, however, using a conservative annual rate of entry(allowing for deaths and returns to their homelands)of three illegal aliens entering the U.S. for each one apprehended.(Walsh quoted other border patrol agents who put the figure as high as "7" note he uses three) My estimate includes apprehensions at the Southern Border(by far the majority,at the Northern border, along the Pacific, Atlantic, and the Gulf of Mexico coasts, and at seaports and airports. Taking the DHS(Department of Homeland Security) average of 1.2 million apprehensions per year and multiplying it by 3 comes to 3.6 million illegal entries per year, then multiplying that number by 10 for the 1996-2005 period, my calculations come to 36 million illegal entries into the U.S. Add to this the approximately 2 million visa overstays during the same period, and the total is 38 million illegal aliens currently in the US. If this total is true it changes a lot of things and may explain why so many different interested parties act the way they do, anyway I was flabbergasted to see the number and just had to chase it down a little.

Yeah we had our "Noel" for almost a week here, lots of wind some rain but mostly a non-event as tropical storms go.

A friend of mine lost some beach in the Bahamas, that seems to be the worst part of it other than lots of devastation in the third worlds of Hispaniola which can happen almost any time during any storm, they are never quite ready.

It was a simple and clear case of “cover your endside.” Powell felt guilty for supposedly shilling for the Bush Administration’s case for Iraq (something he should not have felt guilty over by any stretch because we still don’t know the whole truth about Saddam’s chemical weapons programs) and decided to point the finger away from him, basically saying “it’s not my fault.”

That may cause confusion... but then again if people THINK it’s 9:00, and it’s 8:00, and they tune into MTP at the same time they think it’s supposed to be on, it’s all a wash (although they’ll be much confused later on).

Like I said, I think this is only specific to your station and not NBC as a whole. All the stations in my area seem to be carrying MTP at its regularly scheduled time.
