George H.W. Bush: Friendship With Bill Clinton Doesn't Translate to Support For Hillary
Fox News ^ | November 04, 2007

Posted on 11/04/2007 3:32:50 PM PST by Mr. Mojo

WASHINGTON — Former President George H.W. Bush says the post-White House friendship he has nurtured with the man who turned him out of office won't make him go any easier on his successor's wife, Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Bush and former President Clinton in recent years have worked together on numerous charitable causes, including jointly raising money for victims of the Indonesian tsunami in late 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

"And I might say I've enjoyed playing golf with the guy," Bush said.

But none of that will make him hold his tongue against Hillary Clinton, who leads the Democratic presidential nomination race.

"I'm enough older that he has treated me with great deference and I would say friendship. And so there is a friendship there," Bush said of former President Clinton in a taped interview broadcast on "FOX News Sunday."

"But just as he's not going to tiptoe about his differences with the president, I wouldn't tiptoe with my differences with Hillary," Bush said. "But I don't plan to be all involved in this."

RelatedStories Transcript: George H.W. Bush on 'FOX News Sunday' Bush also was asked to explain the country's attachment to the Bushes and Clintons. A Bush or Clinton has been on the ballot in every presidential contest since 1980; Bush's son, George W., is finishing his second term as president.

"Well, I don't know that it's an attachment to families. I think it's being in the right place politically at a certain time," the elder Bush said.

He said the American people have a way of sorting these things out.

upfront? how about truthful.

The Bushes have protected the Clintons (and Sandy Berger) and covered up their crimes
which would have put normal people in prison.

Yea, just because I get along with my best friend from college doesn’t mean that I have to like and/or support her idiot husband.

bill clinton is incapable of being a friend to anyone. He's a user. He uses people. If they can get him where he wants to go, he will play along.

If an object doesn not positively affect clinton between his belly button and his knees, that object isn't real.

clinton would knife his grandmother in the back if it assisted his solipsism. Anyone that would trust clinton as far as he could throw a piano is a nit wit of the first order.

Yes. It’s called criminal prosecution.

Are you listening, GWB?

I doubt whether hillary was about to ask for his endorsement.

But I must say that the spectacle of GHW Bush and bill clinton palling around together makes me sick, every time I see one of those photo ops.

How you, Mr. President, could even give that POS the time of day after the way he acted and the things he said, I’ll never understand.

He sure wouldn’t be a “friend” in my book.

&&&
Because Bush 41 sullies himself by hanging out with that disgusting pig Bill Clinton and even calls him a friend. I know that he thinks he is doing something noble, but he is naive, as the friendship diminishes him instead of raising up the Swindler from Arkansas.

I’ve always wondered why the extreme Bush hating left could support Mrs. Clinton in light of their families friendship with the evil Bush “crime” family.

The Bush’s are a nuanced family. The libs are not nuanced enough to get it.

It's mind boggling that someone intelligent with breeding could find anything in common with Slick Willy.

It certainly has diminished my regard for Bush 41.

My opinion of GW covering up for Slick and his crime gang is sickening.

Maybe George knows that Hillary is the reason Bill is always looking for love. The psychopathic dominatrix kicked her humping dog out on the street to rape and grope.

Sick, but not in the least surprised. Which one was worse for conservatism. GHWB gave us the People With Disabilities Act. A Country Club Republican if there ever was one.

Please let us never forget that this patrician essentially slept through the last two years of his presidency; did not even have the guts to fire his abysmal chief-of-staff himself, but tasked Bush43 with the job; and by his demonstrated mediocrity and lack of forceful exercise of his office — gave us 8 Years of The Bent One and Thunder Thighs !

I consider GHWB an absolutely terrible Chief Executive!

And, I am being kind to this loser!

The things that he has said about his own son should be enough for any parent to run from him as fast as possible. I also get sick everytime I see them together and believe that this friendship was the starting point of when the base began to see that 43 wasn’t a true conservative.
