Thanks for the clarification.
Some day in the not-so-distant future there will be a Carbon Offset surcharge/fee for every ticket purchased. It will no longer be some stupid-ass liberal feel good act of nonsense. It will be imposed upon many things. Think airline tickets, heating your home, etc.
As long as they are doing this I will turn them off and if by chance I hear of their advertisers I will make a note to not purchase the products,
To save energy, I turned off the t.v. This may have been the dumbest thing I have ever seen on t.v. outside of Geraldo and opening up Capone’s safe.
Lets have them start a “Turn off the t.v. to save a tree” campaign.
I am hereby asserting that the whole Lauer segment was an absolute fake. He was most certainly NOT standing outside in either -12 temps (as the graphic showed) or 0 degrees as he stated. I'm from the north (Wisconsin) where we get these kinds of temps regularly in the winter.
For one, you don't talk the same. Your body can't help but adjust to compensate for the cold. Most importantly and the absolute proof is that you couldn't see his breath when he talked. This would start in the upper 20's and at 0 (or -12) would be VERY obvious.
Can anyone get the video of this to take a look. NO WAY was Lauer standing outside in either of the stated temps, and as I said to my family during the broadcast, NBC IS LYING TO US!!!
Why didn’t they kill the stadium lights, give the spectators candles and let the players wear mining helmets?
this crap last night was the dumbest piece of TV I have seen in many, many years...NBC: Nothing But Crap.
“NBC IS LYING TO US!!!”
Wasn’t it NBC that faked the exploding gas tank to show how EE-vil big business (car mfr) was? Just continuing what they do best.
that’s what my wife said....all this crap about green and then they send reporters all over the world to satay in hotels etc. etc.
I'm ready to cancel my HBO. I kept it only for their boxing and some of their series (Sopranos, Deadwood and Carnivale were favorites of mine). Now their boxing ain't worth it while I use the mute button (Can't stand Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman together) and they don't have a series worth squat. I'm done subsidizing Maher and Costas.
Hello Starz channel in my house.
I got the impression that the temperature was about freezing. I would not put it beyond NBC to report the temperature as "zero degrees", which is to say "32 degrees F), and just omit that they were referring to zero degrees Celsius.
And, of course, for the -12 you can just use whatever BS Wind Chill factor calculation the TV networks are using these days to convince people they don't want to go outside and keep their backsides glued to their couch cushions, in front of the TV.
Had to chuckle when Matt was talking about the ice MELTING twice as fast as predicted, while the -12 degree temperature was being scrolled on screen below him.
“NBC is still majority owned by General Electric right?”
This over-the-top hypocrisy would never have occurred on former GE president Jack Walsh’s watch. He would have had the entire NBC hierarchy fired for this stunt. Obviously, GE’s current no-name head lacks Jack’s intestinal fortitude and is just cashing his paycheck and waiting for a cushy retirement package. Time to sell my GE stock.
Being a Cowboy fan, I had to sit through that crap last nite, and now I hate the Iggles even more
I immediately changed the channel when they ‘went there’ to the NFL networks post game coverage til the kick off.
‘Am I reading this right? They cover a night game with the field, stadium, and parking lot lights blaring and they turn the lights off in the booth and use candles? Idiots!’
Exactly.
The power used by the road caravan to put on Sunday Night Football alone would keep a small city lit up for a month.
‘The Costas-Collingsworth-Olbermann candlelight set will live in infamy. It was one of the most ridiculous moments in the history of television. What made it all the more ridiculous was them powering down everything EXCEPT the huge plasma screens with their sponsors (Toyota) logo on them.’
Yep.
Obviously GE has figured out how they can make money from this Green scam.
