MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 5 /Standard Newswire/ -- Today the Fred Thompson campaign announced the addition of Shannon Royce, an experienced social conservative coalitions director and former Executive Director of The Arlington Group, who will be joining the Thompson Campaign to serve as Grassroots and Special Projects Director.
Shannon Royce most recently served as Executive Director of the Arlington Group where she managed a coalition of over 70 organizations advocating on numerous pro-family initiatives. In that capacity, she coordinated coalition efforts on behalf of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito. A former Legislative Assistant to Senator Slade Gorton and Legislative Counsel to Senator Charles Grassley, Royce also served as Director of Government Relations for the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission from 1999-2003. Shannon is a graduate of Hardin Simmons University, and received a law degree from George Washington University.

No. I’m a conservative who has worked my a$$ off for candidates like Scott Garrett, one of the most consistently conservative member of congress, conservative NJ state senate leader Gerry Cardinale.
We’re tax cutting, deficit-hating, pro-military and yes, social conservatives, who understand what its like to be a Republican in a liberal location.
I’m a Republican from New Jersey which may explain my tolerance of moderate social policies, but it also explains my understanding of New York City and the feat of even cutting a single tax in that city, let alone 23. May he have exaggerated his positions a little to get elected in the most liberal city in the nation? Yes
However in his actions, the measure of a politician, I ask you to show me one instance where he expanded abortion, legalized gay marriage or took a gun away from someone who rightfully owned it.

There is a LOT of activity to get your candidate where he needs to be, with the people he is going to talk to, and the continuing research that never stops.
All this takes organization, and the best people you have in place to control the activities the better, otherwise as a candidate you get stuck doing the admin work and not campaigning.

Fourteen years later and here are a few things he has been wrong about.
First of all, he lied about the stats he used. He claims that after Canada started licensing handgun owners the suicide rate was slashed by fifty percent. The truth is that the suicide rates in Canada not only did not reduce, they actually continued to increase during the time frame he is talking about (and since).

Now let’s look at his other statements. He claims that the cause of higher murder rates is the presence of more “automatic” handguns in America, but since he said that in 1993 there has been over a hundred million more guns in America with probably half of those being semi-automatic handguns, yet the murder rate in America is now almost half what it was in 1993. Apparently more “automatic” handguns in America correlates with fewer murders and crimes which is the opposite of what Rudy claims. http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_01.html
Add the England example and his thesis is disproven because since England has banned all handguns, murder has increased with most murders committed without the dreaded so called “automatic” 9mm pistols or other handguns.

Rudy also claims that revolvers in the hands of a murderer are less damaging than a 9mm “automatic” handguns. Studies have said that while one fifth of all handgun crimes involve a handgun with a greater than ten round magazine capacity, and one fifth of all privately owned handguns in America have a greater than ten round magazines (a 1995 estimate on private ownership and the percent is most likely much higher now), only 3% of all gunfire incidents had ten or more shots fired. A five, six, seven, nine or even a ten shot revolver kills just the same.
Hopefully Republicans will come to their senses and realise Rudy is Republican In Name Only and send someone else to the General.
He said something about his stance not affecting hunting. Hunting!
This is the same tripe that came out of Bill Clinton’s mouth. The Founders weren’t securing our right to hunt. They built in a check on government, and did nothing to stop us from self defense. C’mon I know you want to support Rudy, but I will not vote for a gun grabber. Why will you?
