My friends, we must remember that our rights come from God and not from government.

Side-observation about media reaction to this statement (which Thompson makes frequently)...the media has tended to interpret this as if it's just a pander to social conservatives. Meanwhile, in reality it's the single most important fact about our system of government, whether one is religious or not (although those who don't believe in God might paraphrase it by saying our rights come from nature, not from government).

It boggles my mind that so many journalists are completely ignorant about the fundamental historical truth of this statement.

Nice ad. Coulda used a few young faces, maybe.

They're trying to make Fred look younger. If you surround him with 90-year old prunes, why then he doesn't look half bad. LOL.

Oh, but it's actually quite good. If you're ever in Los Angeles, try Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. I've been to the one on Pico a few times. Mmmmmmmm...

"Being southern I literally did not hear someone describe themselves as a Republican (in my presence) until I was almost an adult."

I was 20 or 21 when I first heard my dad say "I didn't leave the Democrat Party, it left me." That was my first opportunity to vote for President. My parents worked the Republican polling place for the primary, but I couldn't enter the building because I had, in all my 20 yr old wisdom, already cast my primary vote at the Dem location.

Yep.. I voted for Jimmah! Fortunately, my candidate lost. I learned alot from my dad. :)

Fred is like a junior mint, he can be quite refreshing.

Let's hope the comparison works another way as well: "Nobody turns down a Junior Mint!"

Believe me - when we older ones grew up in Iowa on the farm you had (pan fried) steak - T-bone, porterhouse - and eggs and fried chicken and waffles!!!
