Pat Robertson endorses Giuliani
The Politico ^ | November 7, 2007 | Mike Allen

Posted on 11/07/2007 5:51:19 AM PST by rightwingintelligentsia

Pat Robertson, one of the nation's most influential Christian leaders, plans to endorse former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani today, the Politico has learned.

Giuliani has struggled to win support of social conservatives because of his moderate views on abortion and gay rights. But now he has one of the most resonant imprimaturs with Christian voters.

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), meanwhile, plans to announce his surprise endorsement of former Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for president on Wednesday, a campaign official told Politico.

The endorsement is to be announced in Dubuque, Iowa.

The alliance gives McCain — once a front-runner, now struggling — a crucial bridge to social conservatives, an important constituency that has remained suspicious of him despite his opposition to abortion.

Actually, I don't think polls bear that out. I suppose we have to take the majority of political articles with a grain of salt these days, like also when this article says Guiliani has moderate views on abortion and gay rights.

Hmmm, Gays caused 911 (according to Pat), Rootie was Mayor during 911 (in case you didn’t know). I wonder if there is a connection.

Thanks, I was aware of that. I thought it would be helpful to post a sourced article with a link.

It is time for Conservatives to unite behind the only true Conservative that has a realy probability of being the dems. Fred Thompson is that candidate. Conservatives can blow this out of the water. Robertson sold his sole for what?

Look, we are at war with people who want to kill us, convert or enslave us. Rudy is not perfect... none of the Republican candidates are. But he understands this fact better than any of the other candidates from a personal perspective. Remember when he turned down hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Saudis? That spoke volumes. The truth of 911 is etched upon every fiber of his being and he will prosecute this battle to the uttermost. And he will actively fight against the anti American subversives within the senate and congress that are trying to undermine those efforts. They are going to squeal like little piggies when Rudy goes on national tv and takes them to task. I am so looking forward to that.

I have a great deal of respect for president Bush. Our entire family voted for him twice, but he has let his critics on the left walk all over him and NOT taken a stand against them. Jesus said we were to "turn the other cheek", but that does not mean we are to become a door mat for our enemies to step all over. He should have continually taken a stand on the TRUTH and not let them get away with their lies, distortions and attacks. Instead, he wanted to "play nice" with people who continually stab him and the American people in the back EVERY chance they get.

. Is Rudy everything I want in a candidate? No but he will also NOT put up with Hillery trying to "Lazio" him by hiding behind "No fair, I am a girl!" Come the election campaign/debates, he will beat her like a rented mule. He cleaned up NY, ran that city very well, lowered taxes AND the crime rate and a whole lot of people didn't like him for it because he was tough. But that didn't bother him because he kept his eye on the ball. One more thing, in spite of his faults, Americans like him and have a lot of respect for him. He will garner a lot of independents.

He has stated that he will appoint strict constitutionalists to the SC. I for one take him at his word.

Personally as an evangelical, I like Fred, BUT Fred Thompson doesn't have the fire in his belly, does not seem to "want it" and is not willing to FIGHT for the position as much as Rudy. Sadly, he and his campaign reminds me of Senator Bob Dole... I refuse to let that happen again.

As for Mit, I live in NH and have seen first hand how he governs... no thanks. Besides, I can't vote for a guy who actually believes he is going to become the god of his own world by sexually propagating it with multitudes of spirit children his wife is going to be churning out like the queen from Aliens.

"Robertson sold his sole for what?"

I always thought Pat was an old shoe, falling somewhere between a loafer and a sneaker.

Where have the Christian religious leaders gone? If a person was of the nervous type..they might think the end times are coming soon.

Of all the people Pat could have picked..he HAD to pick the candidate that is pro-choice? I am past being disgusted or surprised I guess.

This has got to be a major blow to Romney and Huckabee, who are both courting these endorsements, as if the endorsement of Robertson and Weyrich is going to bring with it any votes to speak of.

The prolife vote is going to be split, making the other legs of the social conservative stool-immigration and guns- even more important. Fred realizes this and while touting his prolife credentials and his reliability on federalist judges who really will reverse Roe v. Wade, he is assuming the mantle of the only major “secure borders” candidate (as opposed to the others, especially Rudy, McCain and Huckabee), having already secured his position as the candidate of gun owners.

Fred will get a very solid share of the prolife vote, because he is the most likely to appoint the judges who can actually mover the ball forward. But he is going to get the lion’s share of the Immigration and 2nd Amendment vote. That will be the difference.

Man what a thread. I wonder which is the more absurd. That a Pat Robertson endorsement carries any more real-world weight then Dobson’s disapproval, or the hysterics this seems be be causing half the posters so far.

Always thought ol' Pat wasn't all there.

Endorsing a liberal turd like RINO-rudy proves it.

"Where have the Christian religious leaders gone?"

ALL will prove to be frail, sooner or later. Pat will recant when he finds the bristles too sharp to withstand and realizes how many he's dismayed by his "choice" - esp if it costs him a donation or two. Wait and see.

The universe is truly out of whack...

We have Weyrich and Bob Jones backing Romney...

Robertson backing Julie Anne...

Dobson, well doing whatever he is doing

Depending on your beliefs either Satan is laughing or there is a rip in the space time continuum ...

Or both...
