Benthic Bacteria Emit Noxious Gases (Hoax Warning) [Trying to gull the AGW skeptics?]
GlobalWarming.org ^ | November 7 , 2007 | Iain Murray

Posted on 11/07/2007 2:37:12 PM PST by Constitutionalist Conservative

There's a hoax going round, with a very convincing "study" that claims not only to find a link between "benthic bacteria" and temperature increases, but also has the authors say that they were intimidated into not publishing their findings. You can see this clever piece of inventiveness here. The author(s) have even made up past contents for the fake journal. There is no Department of Climatology at the University of Arizona, nor is there a Daniel Klein or Mandeep Gupta in the U of A directory. Neither is there an Institute of Geoclimatic Studies.

A quick whois lookup indicates that the site is registered to one David Thorpe of Powys, Wales, in the UK. There is a David Thorpe who claims to be a "prize-winning novelist and environmental journalist" there and who runs the company to whom the site is registered. He blogs as The Low Carbon Kid.

Congratulations to Mr Thorpe on his eye for detail and the work that must have gone in to producing such a convincing-looking study at first sight. I'm sure he'll fool lots of people who will find the "findings" extremely attractive, but globalwarming.org is not one of them. We are skeptics, after all...

Inhofe's staff publicized the "study" briefly today, but to their credit, they (Hi, Marc!) retracted their alert only 15 minutes later.

I could produce a “study” that shows a direct link between Glowbull Warming and the consumption of soda pop since the 1880’s. It would be just as accurate as any of theirs..................

I love the perfect match in several graphs. Also the pure sinusoidal graphs.

"Where Q is raw mass, u is area, c is osmotic conductivity, Ψ is the vertical (neo-Falkian) benthic discontinuity, X is concretised diachronic invariance (P-series), F is trans-dimensional flow structure and jy is the non-rectilineal harmonic regressivity of the constant Δ." Coulda had me fooled!

Some funy references at that site:

“A Ribeiro, JT O’Connell, P Myers, T Ulaff, ME Ahmet, CHB Horowitz and KH Steinbrecher. Plasma samples from the TOAST2 mission: implications for future solar settlement: 68-81”

Hey, we might as well be walking on the Sun.

...the constant delta..” (cain’t make the symbol, sorry, if thats what that is...)

???

Thats greek to me! ;-)

I’ve got to read this stull they put out again to try and really poke holes in it...Shouldn’t take too long...hehehe

Seems to me this is all a natural process of ecological necessity...Bottom dwelling bacteria munch and crunch on the ditritous crap we discard in many form of our higher existence, including all mammals and other species way up on the food chain...

And this bacteria chow down on whats left over and they get a bit gassy...

So whats the big deal???

Do we need to spend billions worldwide to get the bacteria to eat better??? /sarc

I’m probably wrong about all of this, but thats what this looks to be leading the masses to believe...

Good thing I don;t really give a rats...;-)

"jy is the non-rectilineal harmonic regressivity of the constant Δ." These guys are blowing smoke in good fun. A constant doesn't change, and is certainly not subject to "non-rectilineal harmonic regressivity"

That would be “I’m Walking On Sunshine” by Katrina & the Waves.

Also happens to be Fry’s favorite song. Or will be in about 993 years.

No you were right the first time. He took it for real (thought the “hoax” was the paper saying global warming was a hoax) and then went to a break. When he came back, he said the paper was the hoax and would not be put up on the website. (Of course the paper was correct — global warming is a hoax, but everything in the paper was made up).
