Just looking at that guy gives me the creeps.

Any better? ;-)

Nice work on the above summary, btw! I haven't had a chance to look it up yet, but (in the interest of laziness, lol) who was the "software company" they mention?

Some quick research is saying the company is Ignite - which was - interestingly - founded by Neil Bush (yes, that's right - brother of our current president who was mired up to his eyeballs in that Silverado Savings & Loan deal).

How is Kerik “America’s Cop”—didn’t Bratton serve longer as NYC Commish?

If it looks smells and hangs out with garbage it must be garbage. So much for Rudy.

Pat Robertson must be feeling sorry today.

I think I found it, probably Strohl. Cognos may be the database company that Rudy wants to use to "track" all of those illegals in the country. Why deport them when you can monitor them? (Goofy!)

Kerik went into partnership with Giuliani on multiple ventures related to homeland security, including work with a company that markets software to help companies recover from a terrorist attack.

One of Kerik's most lucrative business deals was joining the board of Taser International, a company that manufacturers stun guns. The New York Times reported that Kerik earned more than $6.2 million in pre-tax profits through his stock options with the company.

"Kerik and the Business of Security"

Since leaving the New York City Police Department at the end of 2001, Bernard B. Kerik, President Bush's nominee for homeland security secretary, has served on corporate boards and helped Giuliani Partners handle many of its security-related clients.

BOARD MEMBERSHIPS INCLUDE:

Taser International -- Maker of electric stun guns that are popular with police departments. Taser has been trying to sell its devices to the Department of Homeland Security for use by border agents.

CLIENTS OF GIULIANI PARTNERS HAVE INCLUDED:

Cognos -- Maker of data-mining software. Hoped to expand sales to state and local governments and the federal government.

Strohl Systems -- Seller of business recovery software for responding to possible terrorist attacks or other emergencies. Engaged in a joint marketing effort for its products with Giuliani Partners.

Entergy Nuclear Northeast -- Owner of four nuclear power plants in New York and New England. Was looking for ways to prepare for and respond to possible terrorist attacks or other emergencies.

Purdue Pharma -- Maker of the widely abused prescription painkiller OxyContin. Sought to improve inventory control at its main manufacturing plant and to prevent black-market sales of the drug.

Nextel Communications -- Maker of cellular phone system widely used by police and fire departments. Sought to expand government investment in technologies like Nextel phones that allow different public safety agencies to communicate.

YEP! Bratton and Safir.

Wikipedia:

Kerik had a relatively short term in New York City's police commissioner. He served for one year and four months, compared with the longer tenures of William Bratton and Howard Safir.
