If the Honda Accord is a “Large” car, I wonder what a Crown Vic is?
I wonder why the fuel efficiency for the Prius and HCH have gone down. Prius used to get close to 60 and HCH was right at 50.
Perhaps the government made them use real numbers.
I will answer my own question. I bet its the new fuel milage reporting standards that went into affect.
I think I’ll keep my real car if that’s what it means to save a couple MPG. It’s so much fun blowing those ugly things off the road with some V8 American horsepower.
Trust me, the 2008 Accord is a “large” car. I got one about a week ago, and it is virtually the same size (Wheelbase, length, width and height) as my 2006 Acura RL. The only differences between the two are the engine (2.4 4-cyl in the Honda, 3.5 6-cyl in the Acura) and the curb weight (3400 vs. 4000).
Yepp... tho as far as the whole energy footprint of the vehicle goes the Pious is one of the worst. And, considering the pricing as well, you’re actually paying equivalent of ~$7 a gallon driving that golf cart.
Yes and even worse is how much SMUG it puts in the air.
That’s funny: That itty bitty Matsuda MX-5 gets about the same EPA highway mileage as a Corvette...

Those E85 MPG vehicles really suck for MPG. HAHAHAHAHA
I hear ya, but the difference is far more than a couple miles per gallon if one drives something like this ('66 Olds Toronado).

I was sitting in a late 50s Mercedes 300SL gullwing at a car show in B.H. around 15 years ago and someone opened the passenger door and sat down next to me. I look over — it was Leno. We talked for a minute or two about the car and then went on our way.

The Miata might get good mileage but it’s a chick car.

That is just a list of MPG, not efficiency.
Efficiency would be stated in pound-miles/gallon, at specified speeds.
OTOH, the extra poundage can add a lot to passenger safety.
It’s easy to find out what the most fuel inefficient cars are. Just look for the ones that liberals ride to their “Save the Earth” functions.
I can usually get 29-30MPG on my 2006 Mazda MX-5 on the hwy...plus, it is an extremely fun little car!
I get 33 mpg around town in my 2005 Scion xb 38 on the highway. I wonder why Scion isn’t on this list.
Thanks but no need... it was a South Park episode. Everyone in South Park had started to get Prius’s and got more scared when a cloud of SMUG was seen coming there from San Francisco.

A Pious ? Nope. I believe in laws of thermodynamics, not the Global Warming religeon. However, a few ‘left of center’ friends of mine have them, and I have ridden in one. It’s a golf cart. Pretty much.
Hence, the ‘Pious’. I found that a profound observation.

Nice. I have a modded ‘04 Cobra w/465 RWHP and get 22 mpg... (on cruse control.)
I notice they left off the turbodiesel jetta, beetle and passat, which get close to 50 real MPG’s. I guess they just don’t like diesels.
Mayor Bloomberg should hold a contest for automakers to design a Hybrid Taxi. Then force all taxi operators to convert. Sell the old cabs off to other cities that aren't as gridlocked.
Think of how much quieter and cleaner the city would be, and how much gas would be saved. Then they should disable the horns.

Where’s the rest of the list? No SUVs, sports cars, exotics? The variable displacement technologies that GM and Chrysler are using need to be included here.
