ROME — The rape and killing of an Italian navy officer's wife, reportedly by a Romanian immigrant, has outraged Italians and prompted Prime Minister Romano Prodi's government to expel dozens of foreign nationals...The decree, criticized by Romanian officials as potentially xenophobic, was introduced by Mr. Prodi's often sleepy center-left Cabinet with atypical alacrity...

Italians shocked by the sex slaying late last week of 47-year-old Giovanna Reggiani, a school teacher of religious studies and the wife of a naval captain, lashed out against immigrants. Hooded vigilantes linked to a far-right group attacked a group of Romanians in the capital with iron bars and knives last Friday....

The decree, which has the force of law but expires if Parliament fails to approve it within 60 days, is being closely watched by other EU countries such as Britain and France, where there is mounting concern over the influx...In Brussels, the European Commission said Monday that Rome was within its rights to expel any person suspected of being a "threat to public safety." However, the Italian legislation appears to go further than laws in other EU countries by permitting expulsion without proof of a criminal record or a trial...

That’s how the enemy gains a foothold, by using our Politically-Correct insanity against us. “Xenophobe!” becomes the new scarlet letter of the Left (and some of the Right, as our dear President has shown).

There’s nothing wrong with Nationalism. I wish people would understand that and refuse to bow to the PC Police.
