Lubbock Bike Path Saboteur Sentenced
KCBD News Channel 11 ^ | 9 November 2007

Posted on 11/09/2007 7:39:01 PM PST by Army Air Corps

The man who clothes-lined bicyclists in Mae Simmons Park will not be going to jail.

This week, Judge Jim Bob Darnell sentenced David Knape to 600 hours of community service and three years probation. Knape pleaded no contest.

In February, Knape strung wires between trees at the park, and placed broken glass and other obstacles on the bike trail. He was apparently trying to harm bicyclists as a way to protect the wildlife.

I agree. When the man was finally cuaght, the majority of folks here wanted him to do some serious time. Most judges here are “Hangin’ Judges,” but we do have a few softies.

OMG, I hadn’t heard about this. What a POS. Can’t believe he didn’t get any jail time; he could’ve killed someone. Not much different then going out there and taking a swing at bicyclists with a baseball bat.

What he did was bad enough, but motives are a reminder that the Econuts are off-balance. What he did little little different than the actions of Earth First!, ELF, etc.

I thought humans were more important than wildlife.
That judge needs to exam his heart.

The idiot “judge” and the moonbat ecofreak should both be sharing a jail cell.

This was a fairly big local story because park employess had found a number of these boobytraps in the park and were becoming very concerned for the safety of all folks, not just cyclists.

Oh, how sweet! The guy was trying to help the squirrels by maiming people.

Such liberal garbage ought to be forced to bike at high-speeds into his own type of trap, at neck level, for that whole 600 hours.

I expect it would leave him permanently speechless.

The ruling has folks scratching their heads, to be sure. I thought that he was going to do time.

The judge is an idiot. He could have killed someone, or at the very least caused serious injury.

I’m a cyclist who uses the bike paths near me some of the time, but the *majority* of folks who use such paths (here, at least) are families with kids. Not that it isn’t bad enough to hurt just anyone, but.... Ooh, this just burns me up.

What is it about “attempted murder” or “assault with intent to main” that this dumbassed judge doesn’t understand?

Even I, a lowly paralegal with an AAC in Police Science, know that this was a deliberate act, performed with “malice aforethought” and with the specific intention of hurting/maiming or killing innocent people.

How many people does a wacko have to kill before this judge takes it seriously?

Impeachment or recall, anybody?

There’s a judge that needs to be given the opportunity to find other employment at the next election. The defendant should have ended up with 20 years at Huntsville. Is he from a ‘good family’?
