Tough spot for GOP. Giuliani has the best chance (so far) against Madame Hillary but his positions are fatally flawed. Romney has better positions, but is likely unelectable.

That is just plain not true.

The religious right stopped being Anti-Mormon when they came under attack by the atheist left. The truth is all branches of Christianity have united to to try to take the nation back from atheists like Rudy.

I was highly involved in the Bush campaign in Ohio in 2004. The election hinged on Bush getting the 300 thousand votes of the Religious right. Actually the term Religious right is a media term. We determined in 2004 that over half the so called Religious right voters were actually registered Democrats.

If the choice is between Romney and Hillary, the so called religious right will turn out in far greater numbers than they did in 2004. In 2004 they made George W. Bush our returning president.

I have worked on campaigns for pro abortion Republicans. In conservative Southern Ohio, there is no way a pro abortion Republican can win. We found that out 10 years ago.

Senator SonOfaVich or is that Voinovich, told us a moderate Republican could defeat Ted Strickland for congress. A conservative came within a hand full of votes of defeating Ted in 1996. We were told the moderate socially liberal Republican would clean Ted's clock in 1998. Ted won in a massive landslide. The Socially Conservative Republicans would not vote for a socially liberal Republican. They just flat out refused.

A Presidential candidate that can't carry Southern Ohio is going to be defeated. No Republican has ever been elected president with out winning Ohio. Rudy cannot carry Ohio under any circumstances.

Rudy and his supporters try to tell us he can pick up Democrat votes from his liberal positions. The 2004 polling done by Rove showed that for every liberal vote picked up by socially liberal positions, 2 conservative votes were lost.Lose two to gain one will not elect anyone.

"Rudy can win!" is what the Hillary media keeps telling us. When in fact he is the one candidate that Hillary can easily defeat.

She can beat him big time. Perhaps enough to give her a filibuster proof Senate and total control of the federal government.. Then there will be no way to stop her.

A vote for Rudy is a vote for Hillary.. pure and simple.

even more meaningful was that he made the streets safe again in NYC..

Giuliani and his shills love to claim that reversed the raising crime rate in NYC. As with so much of the Giuliani myth, the truth is that perception is more a matter of spin than fact.

In 1990, William Bratton was appointed Chief of Police of the New York City Transit Police by Mayor Dinkins. He significantly brought down crime in the subways which earned him an offer from the city of Boston to become Superintendent in Chief of the Boston Police Department.

In 1994 George Kelling, the social scientist from whom Giuliani got the "broken windows" theory of crime reduction, pushed Giuliani to hire Bratton as New York City’s Police Commissioner. Unlike Giuliani and his shills, Mr. Bratton readily acknowledges the fact that crime was already falling under Mr. Dinkins and his Police Commissioner, Ray Kelly. What hadn't been turned around, he admits, were the quality-of-life offenses "that reminded people of crime," from the squeegee men who flocked to crowded intersections to the aggressive begging that could be seen on the streets and in the subways.

Mr. Bratton also admits that the majority of the new cops Giuliani takes credit for putting on the streets of New York were authorized to be hired under the "Safe Streets, Safe City" program approved in Mayor Dinkins's tenure but had not actually made it to the streets until Mr. Giuliani took office.

It’s also important to know that crime declined in virtually every city in the country during the 1990s, and that New York mirrored that national trend and only out performed the rest of the country because of the greater influx of cops than in other localities.

In an attempt o show that Bratton wasn’t the reason crime was down Rudy ordered Bratton’s replacement to more than triple the size of the Street Crime Unit which had proven effective in taking guns off the street during Mr. Bratton's tenure, despite the warning of the unit's commander that such an expansion meant that SCU members would no longer be as carefully selected and trained. This overreaching came home to roost with the fatal shooting of Amadou Diallo, a Bronx man who was mistaken for a rape suspect by four SCU cops who were working their first tour of duty together and doing it without a supervisor present.

That tragic shooting was the product of both bad police work and the foolhardy decision by Rudy and the top brass in the NYPD to relax the supervision of the SCU in order to expand it. It created a major political problem for Giuliani, who sank into demagoguery as his Police Department and his dealings with the minority community came under fire.
