A Phoenix, Arizona based Spanish-language radio station is railing against the description of a serial rapist targeting girls between 12 and 14 in the city’s suburb of Chandler… Deemed the “Chandler Rapist” and described as a “Hispanic male” by the police department, this radio station is ACTUALLY saying that describing the rapist as a Hispanic is RACIST, and that the Chandler Police Department is feeding into so-called anti-Hispanic sentiment. Leading this charge is Mayra Nieves, the Vice President of programming for two Hispanic radio stations, AKA New Radio Venture. She has banned her news department and anyone on her air waves from stating the ethnicity of this man on air. Her radio station is also calling on the police department to change their description to something “a little less judgmental.” The police department has refused. Kudos to you, Chandler. Now, keeping in mind that the Chandler Rapist’s victims described him as a SPANISH-SPEAKING Hispanic man, Nieves actually said this: “For me, saying he’s Hispanic because the victims are saying he’s Hispanic, is actually doing racial profiling

The Port Authority cleaned it up in time, but can you imagine what COULD have happened?
