I was standing at the kitchen sink eating the tacos I had just prepared and had an amusing thought.

Everyone of us knows a “Hillary!”.

They can be the trophy wife of the millionaire who accomplished nothing in life but is the director of some museum, the bitchy, bossy wife of the owner of the company you work for who doesn’t work for the company but stops by from time to time to let you know just “who’s boss”, (we military types all know the next one) the General’s/Colonel’s/Major’s/Captain’s wife acting like an ass at the Commisary, the lady who has no looks or talent but is the local cable company’s ‘spokesmodel’ because her old man owns the local affiliate, the yuppie wannabe who can afford to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on ‘expenses’ as real estate agent but hasn’t yet sold a single property…..you get the picture.

Those are “Hillary!”s.

Let’s stop here before I go any further. I am not a bitter male because I was ‘done wrong’, I don’t have any problem with women in general, I’ve had many healthy, satisfying relationships with women, both platonic and otherwise. Just so you know where I’m coming from.

The next time you meet one of these annoying beyotches, tell her that she’s a “Hillary!”. At first they will swell up with pride that you consider them ‘strong-willed’ or some such nonsense until you further explain just exactly what a “Hillary!” is like. They have accomplished nothing in life on their own but ironically have ridden the coattails of the man or men they have come in contact with in life as opposed to what they think they are in their own little minds.

Go forth Freepers and call out the “Hillary!”s that you know today.

What actually got me to the thought that inspired this thread was my contemplating just how good my life really is even though I'm standing at the kitchen sink at 3AM eating tacos and I wondered if just that little moment may in the future be 'taken away for the common good'.

Pretty freakin' sad that an American citizen would even have that thought, huh?

In '04 I was so dead-set against poseur and breck girl that I bought GW signs and put them up at the business I had at the time. I had never paid for campaign stuff before in my life! That's how bad I hated the thought of that traitorous bastard and his pony being in the WH.

That's my timing it seems. When RR was in office, I didn't give a crap about politics. I was in the AF at the time and was young and stupid. Got the best pay raise ever in the military at the time because he was in office. Not to mention the bigger stuff.

Now that I give a rats butt, Jorge dissapoints the you-know-what out of me.

Neighbor, I occupy much the same position you do...

President Bush was far from my first choice in 2000, but when it appeared that he was The Anointed One, I soldiered on, and helped get him elected.

Got all those nifty cards & letters from the White House, too, after he won...

That first year was pretty lackluster ( remember "parasitic loads?" ) but after 9-11, I was very proud...

The 2002 elections were marvelous, and 2004 was worth doing... but oddly, after that, I got dropped from the WH mailing list...

Coincidence? I do wonder...

But after ShamNasty, and a few other things?

Ronald Reagan was the only president I ever unambiguously voted for rather than mostly voting against his opponent.

Ronald Reagan belongs on Rushmore.

But the funny thing is, that Reagan's policies bore fruit over time, the Berlin Wall came down a couple of years into GHWB's presidency. I always loved Reagan, but what with Iran-Contra and such, I was ready for a new president late in Reagan's second term. I thought at the time it might be Jack Kemp - who was both a "hawk" and a true expert on the economy.

So you have to wonder just how GWB will look to you in a historical context, ten or twenty years from now.
