Kerry takes oilman Pickens up on $1 million Swift Boat challenge
Boston.com ^ | 16 November 2007 | Glen Johnson

BOSTON --Sen. John Kerry, whose 2004 presidential campaign was torpedoed by critics of his Vietnam War record, said Friday he has personally accepted Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens' offer of $1 million to anyone who can disprove even a single charge of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

In a letter to Pickens, who provided $3 million to bankroll the group during Kerry's race against President Bush, the Massachusetts Democrat wrote: "While I am prepared to show they lied on allegation after allegation, you have generously offered to pay one million dollars for just one thing that can be proven false. I am prepared to prove the lie beyond any reasonable doubt."

So what, it just wasn’t convenient for him to do it earlier, like during his Presidential run?

Must've taken him some time from then until now to figure out how to make certain things, or certain people, disappear. I can't wait to see how this one plays out!

What he said:
"While I am prepared to show they lied on allegation after allegation, you have generously offered to pay one million dollars for just one thing that can be proven false.

What he meant:
"You mean I can get a million dollars and I don't have to marry the guy?"

I'm predicting that John Kerry is about to publicly confuse a mistake with a lie, just as Democrats have been doing over and over again for years now.

I think the thoughts of more than a few here are correct: Kerry has had the time to go out and manipulate the field to adjust the outcome. No other explanation for a 3 year hiatus from the Swiftboat Vets exposures.

I hope so . . . I simply cannot wait to see how this plays out. I have a vested interest in seeing Kerry look like an ass: my father was a Seawolf gunship pilot, and he worked closely with the swift boat guys, of course. Thinks the world of them. He despises Jawn Karry.

Waht? Is this true, he signed Form 180?

No. He supposedly allowed reporters from the Boston Globe to look at a portion of his file. They then loyally claimed that he released the files.

WTF does "began signing the Standard Form 180", mean.....

Is F'n Kerry signing one letter of his name at a time, with a letter added each year?

I understand only VERY LIMITED access was granted to just a couple SELECTED flunkies on the Boston Globe -- not unfettered access by the Press in general...

This will be fun to watch...

I guess the act of signing a Standard Form 180 is pretty time-consuming. Like 2.5 years just flew by... now maybe he is up to the letter “K”.

I thank him for his service.

And I'm quite certain that none of those Swift Boat guys lied about anything at all. Could they have been in error about some small detail or another? Of course. But lie? No way. Unlike John Kerry, they have a sense of honor.

What a biased article! "...Kerry began signing the 180...."

Apparently Kerry began signing the 180 and hasn't finished signing it yet....

He may need another few years to completely sign the 180.

Pickens shouldn't meet with J effing K until he signs for the complete release of his military files. Which apparently will be NEVER.

Even if the Swiftboat vets lied, I don't know why Kerry would object to being smeared by them, not after he smeared millions of vets and active duty servicemen -- and in fact, is still doing it today.

Almost makes you want to see a civil war, if it's the only way these leftwing traitors will ever be held to account.

The reporter must be a Kerry backer. Signing the 180, is not a continous thing. Like being born, and dying, you only do it once.

Boone will probably lose. I’m betting there is at least ONE thing, probably minor, that they said that will turn out to be false.

“On page 237, they say that before we left on the mission I ate a breakfast that included eggs. In fact, on that particular day, I was sick and skipped breakfast, and I have the medical evidence to prove it”.

Pickens should have said he had to prove that over 50% of their claims were false.

Wouldn’t signing the 180 be the only way to prove or disprove what the Swift Boat Vets said. Otherwise it just becomes a “he said-she said” situation. I’d imagine this is what T Boone will demand.

No, maybe Kerry is going to allow Pickens a peek at a redacted copy of his military record.

He wouldn’t release it during the election because he was running as the intellectual candidate and the military record contained his college grades and military test scores, all of which compared poorly to George Bush’s.

Yep. I'll be willing to bet that anything horseface "proves" will be along the line of something such as the allegation that he wrote himself up for a purple heart for a wound no more serious than a thorn prick was, in fact, more serious because it actually broke the skin and required an antibiotic in addition to a band-aid.

It is also possible that he has doctored or created the necessary documents. Otherwise, he would have signed his 180 form back in 2004.

Kerry Says He’s Finally Ready to Refute Swift Boat Veterans [semi-satire]

Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) whose bid for the presidency in 2004 was damaged by attacks on his vaunted Vietnam War record by a group called “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth,” says he is now ready to refute their allegations.

“We have put together a powerful and irrefutable rebuttal to the scurrilous charges made against me by these right wing fanatics,” Kerry asserted.

Kerry declined to disclose any of his reputedly irrefutable proof at this time saying that “the American people have not yet shown a sufficient measure of regret and contrition for voting against me. They disrespected me—a decorated veteran—and reelected a draft-dodging doofus. Until I get an apology, I’m holding my fire.”

Kerry said he expects that America’s eagerness to finally hear the full story “will build to an unbearable level. Then they’ll apologize just so they can satisfy their curiosity. They won’t be disappointed.” The senator
did offer a teaser when he hinted that he has evidence indicating that the war would have ended differently had he not been forced out of action by his wounds.
