Female boxer-turned-jet fighter pilot 16.11.2007
World Boxing Champion Agnieszka Rylik has become the first Polish woman to fly a F-16 jet fighter. The flight lasted 1.5 hour and took place in the Krzesiny airbase near Poznań, western Poland. The sportswoman had to undergo a several-day long medical check-up in the Military Institute of Aviation Medicine in Warsaw. She flew with lieutenant colonel Dariusz Malinowski, an experienced pilot who was among the first Poles trained in the United States, with hundreds of hours in F-16 to his credit. The F-16 with Agnieszka Rylik on board reached the speed of 2000 kms per hour.

I find it amusing that the instructions and other words printed on the plane are written in English.

Good for her. I keep saying I like what I see coming out of Poland these days, and it keeps on coming. Glad to see it.

“I find it amusing that the instructions and other words printed on

I’ve been told that French was slated to become the “international
language” of air transit/transportation prior to WWII.
But then WWII happened, the French lost, and airports on
many points of the globe just gravitated to English with all the
American and Commonwealth pilots/crews.
Being a loser in a world war does have consequences.
Even when old friends bleed in order to rescue you.

Aren't all rules and language for aviation in english?
Niner for nine in english because nine in German is "no" etc...
To: Friend_from_the_Frozen_North
It appears to have the extended-range conformal fuel tanks like the F-16I.

handsome plane but I have a question; is the F-16 modified? The F-16 is normally a single-seater. Perhaps this is a two-seat training variant. It also looks like they've added the two large pods just aft of the cockpit. Those aren't on any F-16 that I've ever seen.

It’s the F-16I configuration - dorsal conformal fuel tanks for extended range, and a new dorsal spine structure for more modern avionics and additional mission electronics.

One and a half hours in a F-16?
I'll bet this wasn't some sight seeing tour either...
This lady has got to have a cast iron stomach...
And no, I wouldn't hit it either... unless promised it wouldn't hit back...LOL
To: Friend_from_the_Frozen_North
Yes, it's a modified, 2 seats version - designed for the Polish Air Force. There is also another - 1 seat version. Both are supposed to be the most modern versions of F16 among NATO countries.
Here you can see an article about structure enhancements:

Thank you for the URL; it appears I am behind the times regarding the latest configuration for the F-16. It does appear to be an even more impressive airplane...

I find it amusing that the instructions and other words printed on the plane are written in English.Everything inside (controls, displays ...) are also in English. Hard to imagine the cost of converting a US fighter to another language.

Even Russian birds for export are all labelled in English, I’m told.
English is *the* language for international aviation. ALL commercial towers around the world talk to airplanes in English.

As far as I’ve heard - English will probably be even the language of communication for the Polish Air Force pilots - even within Polish borders (at least Polish Ministry of Defense is considering such solution).

Those are conformal fuel tanks which are becoming more common and quite a few dual seat F-16s are operational as both trainers and tactical platforms.

A decent specimen.
I grew up in western New York which is loaded with Italians and Poles. Many Polish women are acceptable, fair-to-middlin, but there’s a good percentage that are just jaw dropping drop dead beautiful. Athletic, active, passionate, opinionated, and most I’ve known are very much like this one.
