I live in the Lake Charles area and while there was a ton of downed trees most were on commercial timberland. The timber companies salvaged what they could, cleared the areas and promptly reforested the land. There were incentives put in place in order to salvage as much timber as possible by reducing certain taxes for the logging companies.
The trees that weren’t salvageable were run through huge chippers and burnt. There are few rotting trees around here.

I don’t know where those hurricanes are but here in the SouthEast we definitely need the rain they bring (not the other destruction mind you, just the rain).
