Either they stop whaling, or make efforts to rear them for food. Choosing neither will mean sure doom for the whales. It’s next to impossible to make accurate counts on their numbers in the wild, and there is no real way of culling the wild whales just enough to make sure they don’t go extinct.

I agree. Not just the Japanese, though. Even the Chinese with their animal bone/ teeth “medicines” is ruining the tiger population.

Number two...do you think tuna, crab, lobster and halibut are "necessary for anyone's survival"?
