The following are the Nielsen ratings for two weeks ago, November 4, 2007, for the Sunday talk shows. Numbers include prime time replays on cable where applicable. In parentheses is change from the previous week.
NBC MEET THE PRESS....3,682,000 (+345,000)
ABC THIS WEEK.........3,019,000 (+838,000)
CBS FACE THE NATION...2,775,000 (+528,000)
FOX NEWS SUNDAY.......2,149,000 (+148,000)
This week's numbers seem to be way off. Of particular note is ABC and CBS. Despite having a largely ho-hum collection of guests (ABC had Edwards and CBS had Biden), both of these shows spiked heavily in the Nielsens, and ABC jumped nearly 40% from the week prior. I'm thinking it was a blip in the Nielsens.

Here are the preliminary results from the cable news replays. (Why it takes me 10 days longer to get the first broadcasts than the replays, I have no idea.)
FOX NEWS SUNDAY.........803,000 (+ 55,000)
NBC MEET THE PRESS......172,000 (-126,000)
I have also taken the liberty of creating a chart based upon the ratings data of the past two-plus months.

When Jimmy Carter's son ran for senate, he couldn't find an anti-war soldier to insult his republican candidate or the Military. Even a liberal democrat was goiing to vote for Republican candidate & this was exposed in a local paper(reported here).

Funny thing - on each of those CNN-democrat debates, they can't find any pro-war, pro-Military questioner. Like dems, like the media.

On FNS, Huckabee is getting a gushing response from Wallace. They talked about the Chuck Norris commercial.

Now he’s spouting FairTax propaganda.

Maica,

Censorship has weakened significantly in KSA since my first gig here (1999-2003). During that period, just about every news website in the USA was censored, e.g. FreeRepublic!

But now I surf without any blocks; in fact, I've only hit one censored site since my return here. (I can't remember which one to be honest.)

Also, we are getting uncensored DVDs from the West. Earlier, I had to drive across the causeway to Bahrain to buy Soprano DVDs and sneak them past Saudi customs.

Since King Fahd died, King Abdullah is pushing the envelope here (relatively speaking of course). But the changes here cannot be minimized by the West.

The Iraqi veteran son of the anti-war “undecided voter” questioner at the debate was USED by his own mother as he stood there like a prop for her. I couldn’t believe that a volunteer soldier would be so silent.

Caller on cspan this morning made a good observation about the dems and the chances of Barack Obama.

When Kweisi Mfume ran for Senator from Maryland, the party backed a Liberal Jew, Ben Cardin, instead of Kweisi.

Hillary is the establishment candidate, and the rest (of the men) are window-dressing. CNN got the message loud and clear.

*****

Everyone in America, no matter what form of mass media they prefer, has probably heard the word “hillary” more often than any other word, since the Wednesday after the November 2006 elections. And these past twelve months were just the year before the actual election year. The media were so eager to get started on promoting Mrs Clinton that they began the mantra of inevitability last November. And every rightwing talkshow host fell right into line -— Hillary Hillary Hillary on and on and on.......

Here 's this sunday's Media Nuggets

###### Busted! - AP's lies -> on Military desertion. Their reporting is slanted, incomplete, selective, and inaccurate and has a demoralizing effect on the public which in turn makes it difficult to recruit an army so that we can defend ourselves.  Is it any wonder what the nation has stopped buying newspapers and turned off the TV?

###### Journalism Professor(!)'s Column Canned -> because of Plagiarism.

###### MSM's Refusal to hold U.N Accountable! 866 Violations of Safety Requirements so far. Bloomberg threatens halting visits to U.N. headquarters by School Children.

###### Are Reporters Doomed? -> Guardian Editor's Fear. Citizen journalism is here to stay. "The reporter will struggle to be heard over the cacophony of a 1000 other voices. Politicians will no longer fear us. And if that day comes, I'm afraid it really will be the end of the reporter."

###### Al-Jazeera 'Balanced' -> says NYTimes Columnist. No surprise there. The writer who exposes it is Rick Moran - brother of ABC's Terry Moran.

###### Ombudsman Scolds NYTimes! for not banning analyst who lied to investors.

###### Dan Rather interviewed, Saddam died! Now, Castro rebukes Rather in Cuba.

###### Low Death Toll Is News, too says Politico's Richard Benedetto.

###### Friendly Fire in the WH! -> WH Press Corpse, that is. Fight was about whether they 're stenographers or reporters (From accusations like they're 'an extension of the Clinton spin machine' to its 'meekness' in covering the Bush presidency).

###### UnReported Poll by MSM 75% of Americans don't care about Hollywood writers strike.

###### USA Today to Cut 45 Newsroom Jobs, says revenue has not kept pace. Free papers to Hotel rooms to show bogus circulation #s have consequences too.

###### Paging MSM! - WashPost Kitchen Closed! -> because of HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS.

###### CNN & "Planet In Peril" -> Do as we say, Not as we do.

###### Rove & Markos in Newsweek -> Two peas in a pod.

B u z z .......

*** U.S. Navy launches -> new online TV network.

*** Victor Davis Hanson received the National Humanities Medal from President Bush.

*** President & Mrs. Bush will be interviewed by ABC's Charlie Gibson @ Camp David on Tuesday to be aired on ABC World News Nightly.

*** Republican Candidates REFUSED to appear on December 4 Iowa Republican debate by Fox, citing "scheduling conflicts" so it got cancelled. (Actions & Consequences).

The past few questions Wallace has been hitting really hard on his record of taxes and spending, and Huckabee has been, well, how do I put this diplomatically?... lying through his teeth about cutting spending.

Money quote (regarding what his presidency will be like): “It’s a record that many historians are going to be proud with, even if the Club for Growth isn’t.”

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia An explosion and fire on a gas pipeline killed 28 workers in eastern Saudi Arabia, the Saudi national oil company Aramco said Sunday.

The fire broke out while contract workers were linking a new pipe to the line late Saturday, Aramco said in a statement.

It said 28 workers, including five Aramco employees, had died in the fire, which was put out early Sunday some 18 miles from its Hawiyah gas plant.”

Well, to be honest, in Iowa he’s always been hanging 5th place, just a little farther back in the pack than he is now. The Ames Straw Poll gave him a nice little bump with Rudy, McCain and Thompson not campaigning there. Plus he’s an unabashed evangelical, which the midwesterners really like.

Huckabee getting the same question on abortion and gay marriage as he got last week, and giving the same answer of “it’s not a political issue, it’s a moral issue.”

Wallace digging up the scandal, brings up fact that Huckabee was reprimanded by the legislature numerous times. Huckabee chalks it up to a partisan witch hunt. He seems to be starting to squirm under Wallace’s questioning...

Huckabee is pro-amnesty, i.e., he wants to legalize the status of those already here.

I don't want to have an amnesty program. You can't let people break a law and say 'hey we're going to look the other way, don't worry about it, we're going to let you in, no problem.' People have to make restitution, there's got to be a penalty paid for the crime committed. But it ought to fit the crime; you don't put somebody in jail for ten years because they came across the border to make a living.

You make them pay something, you make them go through a process, you may put them in the back of the line for the process, but you create a process that's realistic. You don't say the back of the line starts and for the next 12 years you're going to be filling out paperwork.

What you do say is you're going to pay the fine, we're going to have a system that can be done in an orderly fashion, and you'll be able to be legal but we're not going to let you off scot free. That's important." March 27, 2007; RealClearPolitics.com

Why is Huckabee doing so well?

I think because he truly is an engaging, charismatic, funny guy. I think the voters that have life issues as their number one concern have been desperately looking for someone that agrees with them, and that is electable.

So far Duncan has not had the traction, and Fred Thompson, who was touted as the conservative savior has failed to engage. In the last debate (right around the time that Huckabee started his surge in the polls) he was the shining star. He was good, and he had great publicity following it.

Just like many WOT and security voters are willing to over look the social conservative shortfalls of Rudy, I think on the opposite side of the fence many social conservative voters are willing to overlook the economic shortfalls of Huckabee.

Hmmm, E.J. says Bill did exactly what Hillary is doing now on trade when he was running (he is running again, as we all know), he finessed the issue and didn’t take a firm stand. Brownstien and Todd fairly noisily indicated disagreement with that.

E.J. not telling the truth?

Frank, enough already with the gushing! Tom, did you happen to hear the first segment with Luntz...he had some very encouraging polling data showing Mrs. Clinton only within a few points of Rudy & McCain (but then I was on one cup of coffee so may have heard wrong).

The Friends also had on Steve Malzberg and British radio host Victoria Jones to discuss the debates and the Obama bomb. Greg Kelly asks, "Victoria, you're in the Clinton camp, what have you heard?" She denies being an insider and says, "bring it on!"

Just a warning...Ellen Ratner will also be a guest with her pet turkeys.

Why is Chris Wallace going after Huckabee about some house warming gifts when he got married ???

The Huckabees were registered for gifts at a few stores for "wedding presents" when it was really for gifts for their new home (they'd been married for years and years). Wedding presents, rather than house warming gifts, are exempt from the $100 gift limits.

He claims it was for a private party.

A&E must be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dem party.

When Kathleen Kennedy-Townsend, daughter of Robert Kennedy, was running for Gov. of Md, A&E advertised a made-for-TV movie about her father from June to October. No campaign fund requirement there! Just a constant repetition of his name with a listing of his virtues, in every segment of commercials for months!!!.

I agree. Fred could further his standing if he would announce his intention of staffing the Justice Department with new people, tasked with enforcing all the laws on congress regardless of political party. I don’t mind prosecuting corrupt Republicans but it galls me how corrupt Democrats seem to avoid prosecution or exposure for what they have done.

For that matter, it would serve Fred to announce his intention of getting rid of past political operatives in all government agencies where they don’t belong and switched over to them at the end of an administration.

Accountability and responsibility need to become the catch words for any Republican running for office.
