In Stunning Move, UN and US Delist Nasreddin and His Companies from Sanctions
Counterterrorism Blog ^ | November 16, 2007 | Jonathan Winer

In a move subject to no publicity whatsoever, and so far not reported by the press, the UN Security Council today without explanation removed Ahmed Idris Nasreddin and 12 of his companies from the terrorist sanctions list, freeing them from sanctions on a global basis. The UN action followed a similar action by the United States dated yesterday.

The move reflects a 180 degree change from previous assessments of Nasreddin, as articulated by the U.S. Treasury when he and his companies were designated as terrorist financiers by the G-7 on April 19, 2002 and by the UN a week later.

At that time, Treasury stated that Nasreddin operated an extensive financial network providing support for terrorist related activities through commercial holdings which included "an extensive conglomeration of businesses" from which he derived income and conducted transactions. Back then, Treasury stated without qualifiication that "Nasreddin’s corporate holdings and financial network provide direct support for Nada and Bank Al Taqwa," themselves designated as terrorist financiers by the U.S. on November 7, 2001, and the UN on November 9, 2001.

Five years ago, the U.S. Treasury stated that Nasreddin held a controlling interest in Akida Bank, also on the terrorist finance sanctions list, which it described as not being a functional banking institution but a shell company lacking a physical presence, and which had its license revoked by the Bahamian government.

Treasury further stated that Bank Al Taqwa, for which Nasreddin was a director, was established in 1988 with significant backing from the Muslim Brotherhood, which had been involved in financing radical groups such as the Palestinian Hamas, Algeria's Islamic Salvation Front and Armed Islamic Group, Tunisia's An-Nahda, and Usama bin Laden and his Al Qaida organization.

Or rolled on his buddies ...

"OK, you are free to go, we've delisted you"

"you did what???"

"we took you off the list, no strings attached"

"Merciful Allah, you cannot do that! What will the boys back at the jihad think, that I sang like a canary???"

"that is no concern of ours, you must leave now"

"noooooooooo, I won't go! you cannot make me. Please, send me to Gitmo."

Here’s an article from a couple years ago on this guy:

Very strange.

You may have a point there....just let mother nature take its course, right? Perception is everything. Reality does not count....maybe that is the gameplan :-)

I hope we have players who would make moves like that.

Bill or Hill would be open to the bribe, though. He surely proved that with the pardons.

The game is this. We are witnessing the emergence of a worldwide feudal system of control where corporate wealth buys power. It does not answer to the people. It bribes local governments. Modern feudal barons are playing a new game of conquest. They are more sophisticated than the medieval ones. They pretend not to exist. It's easier for them to keep their heads that way. Like the medieval lords, they are enlisting the people in a crusade to stop the spread of Islam not because they are religious but because the Muslims want to acquire wealth of the feudal lords. This is a repeat of the medieval crusades. The game is all about wealth and power.

What was the cost? And there was a financial transaction(s) under the table.

Worth restating. It is true, especially from the standpoint that it is about wealth and power. But too, I feel it extends well beyond Islam. We are witnessing the destruction of borders, the deliberate disobeyance of laws, and in our case, the outright destruction of the soverignty of our nation by elitists and one-world fools who are operating with impunity and are also working hard to isolate the opinion and wishes of the American people by removing as much control and accountability away from the voting booth and into the hands of traitor politicians who are isolating and hiding their objectives from the common citizen, who, in theory, they are accountable to.

Hard to say without more information. Maybe something will emerge later.

I gather that this guy is Nigerian. There are certainly some nasty Muslims in Nigeria, and they have a long history of persecuting the Christians there. There was a vicious civil war some years back against the Ibos of the south. But Nigeria also has at least some kind of record of people cooperating and living together despite these religious differences.

Who knows? It would be nice to think that he has vowed to clean up his act and help hold things together, instead of promoting Jihad.

Muslim charities are strange things. They might help to feed the poor, but at the same time they can be used to kill people. Maybe he agreed to clean up his charity.

It would be nice to think so.

Now if he’d just get his Nigerian attorneys to stop emailing me all those letters, I’d be fully behind this!

It appears from the UN documents that Nasreddin has Italian citizenship.

Thanks. Yes, it appears that we don’t really know a whole lot about this guy, why he was put on the list, or why he was taken off.

Could be a lot of explanations, some of them sinister, some of them in our national interest, some of them a shade of gray, as they say.

I guess this is Bush’s version of Clinton’s pardon party just before he left office. Wonder how much it cost Nasreddin?
