your source is listed in order of total muslims (allegedly), not per capita. California is the largest state in total poulation, so it's not suprising it would have the largest total number. The alleged per capita numbers have New York at the top with 4.6% and then Illinois.

The source gives a total of 5 million in the US, which is larger than most more neutral sources, which give around 3 million. Based on your source, about 6% of all blacks would be Muslim, which is probably considerably overstated, even accounting for "Nation of Islam" (Farrakhan).

Dearborn/Detroit has the largest number of Chaldeans in the country as well as muslims. Chaldeans are Christians but because they are part of the Arab/Iraqi community they are often included.

El Cajon, CA has the second largest Chaldean population in the US second only to Dearborn. It's often confused with being home to many muslims even though it is not.

Detroit may well be the largest but we'll probably never know because of this.
