“>>I am stunned. Positively stunned. Is this a glimmer of hope? Is there a crack in the monolithic block?<<”

I’m not. If a Democrap is taking a fall over this, this has nothing to do with racism, but some other reason. Remember the Imus Sharpton/Hillary attack?

AR was rapidly moving towards the GOP in the ‘90s... until Huckabee halted it and they moved right back to the rodents again... the only Southern state retrograding to the Democrats like that. Thanks for nothing, Huckster.

TEACHER: Buckwheat, can you use the word "isthmus" in a sentence?
BUCKWHEAT: Sure I can. "Isthmus" be my lucky day!

Maybe she getting an early start for the Mardis Gras party...

Truth is, the Democrat Party has ALWAYS been the party of racism, race consciousness and stereotypes. After all, the Ku Klux Klan was founded by Democrats while the Republican Party was born out of the Abolitionist Movement.

Does this mean when black activists call white people “crackers” they will lose their jobs?

The sheriff’s seat in Baton Rouge went Democrat after 24 years of Republican occupancy. Could Baton Rouge be moving to the left, with an influx of Katrina exiles from New Orleans?

Did you know that Buckwheat converted to Islam?

He then changed his name to Kareem of Wheat.

AR gave Republicans consideration in the latter 1990s, but the GOP blew its opportunities, as it usually does. Phyllis Schafly, whom I admire, even went so far as to say that Huckabee left the AR GOP “in shambles” when he turned over the governor’s office to Democrat Mike Beebe, and that was only eleven months ago.

In defense of this woman, I suspect that she intended the term “Buckwheat” to be one of affection. I really doubt that she meant this as a racial slur, and I am unfamiliar with her politics but know she believes in “democracy”.

That is true, but African Americans get especially irritated when this inconvenient history is posted.

Was that Huckabee fault (he did try to run his wife for a lesser constitutional office) or was it the tradition of AR voters? Poor Asa Hutchinson had no chance at all in 2006, a dismal year.

Lets see now...I’ll have to put that on the list of words white folks can’t say. So far..

1.Nappy head.

2.Niggardly

3. Ho.

4. Buckwheat.

5. The dreaded N word.

I’m sure there are some I over looked.

Not a bad showing, though not what was hoped for in light of Bobby Jindal’s victory.

Well, I don’t know the circumstances of that election. Was it an open race ? We lost the Mayor’s office in BR back in 2005, anyhow.

Ultimately, the Governor has to bear the brunt of the federal and state losses of his party. Decisions like that to run his wife and Jay Dickey’s ex-wife was ill-advised. Sadly, aside from John Boozman, there is no “big name” Republican leader in the state anymore. The Hutchinson brothers are unviable now. Even if this has been a good GOP year in ‘06, it’s unlikely Asa would’ve won. Not having any statewide officeholders is a disaster for us.

The question begs, can we get the 2 Independents and just “One” Democrat to elect a Republican Speaker ? I think if that happens, we could see a rash of party switches.
