A very insightful, and mighty smackdown, of Brian De Palma's propaganda movie "Redacted" by Michael Medved.

He calls the movie "The worst film I have ever seen."
Medved has been reviewing movies for over 25 years, and certainly knows his subject.
Brian De Palma really layed an egg with this one.

He couldn't even make an effective propaganda movie.
Like MedVed said, what are the chances that the man in charge of the Marines and raped a 14 year old was fat, and oh by the way his name was Rush.
Blatantly transparent. DePalma must think all US movie goers are dumber than a stump.
I hear Lions for Lambs finally crack 10 million at the box office. After what? 10 days?
I wonder when the hollywood glitzy left is going to get it? The only thing I can figure is right brain/left brain dissonance. They are ‘creative’ but their capacity to reason is very minimal.
$21000! That is awesomely bad.
Wow! We love these threads about this movie. Almost back to the Brokeback Mountain days. This movie must piss people off big time. I find it funny that only about 1 thousand people even saw this movie and it gives this kind of passion. In a way it is a way to get more people into the theater. Brokeback Mountain would have made about a dollar if not for the discussion about the movie. I hope it does not work for this movie. Although most here won’t go see it in the theater that is for sure.
In better news, Bella cracked 1 million dollars. Redacted had how many theaters???
a few minutes of simpering, adolescent fun for Cuban and DiPalma, then years of payback , 3 hours per day, five days per week for Rush. “Don’t pick a fight with someone who buys his ink by the barrel.”
Movies are made to promote an agenda. The “story line” is there to get us to continue watching, while the true propaganda is subtly poured into our heads full of mush.
Now now now, be fair.
He says it “COULD BE” the worst movie.

That's a terrific weekend--for a call-girl! Not so great for a movie.
This movie might be SO BAD that it won’t even be nominated for an Oscar.
I'd be interested to see how these movies fair in other countries.
This might as well have been a Direct-To-Al Jazeera release.
Wow...that is breathtakingly childish (the fat Rush thing, not your comment).
These movies may bomb badly in the USA, but they more than pay for themselves in the “overseas” markets. Expect Redacted, Rendition, Lions/Lambs et al to big big earners in certain EUropean countries and in third world countries in general, especially moslem ones.

Daniel Stewart Sherman as Specialist B.B. Rush in the film Redacted.
(Thanks, FreedomCalls)
You know, I’ve seen some bad movies in my time, but I have yet to see one I’d burn the way Medved does this one.
The DI’s on the Island would never allow anyone to get off that island in that condition.
That picture says it all, doesn’t it.
It’s a shame DePalma couldn’t work a Globe and Anchor in there, somewhere. You figure a genius like him could have figured that out.
Yep! They bomb in USA theaters ... but it is the overseas CD market that they targeted ... a hate USA CD will bring in the money.
I didn’t see the movie but did they call the Marine who was called Rush by a nickname Rusty????
You are right on the money. Bin Laden will buy millions of these DVDs.
This movie was not made to sell in the US, it was made to tarnish the President and the US military in the eyes of the world.
It will do gangbusters when it’s released overseas.
This stinker directly attacks the military and our national image.
Many of the more famous offerings habitually attack morality, marriage, family, virginity, parental authority, American traditions etc.
Sometimes the liberal's attack comes in a prettier wrapper than this one, but they are still harmful garbage.
$21000 wouldn’t even pay the bar bill at DePalma’s presser.
It was definitely made for a target audience. Unfortunately we are the targets.
Yes but the only Country that makes these dirt bags rich is the USA.
“DePalma must think all US movie goers are dumber than a stump.”
Perhaps DePalma is not too bright himself, and believes all moviegoers think the same way.
“This movie might be SO BAD that it wont even be nominated for an Oscar.”
Maybe not, “An Inconvenient Truth” won.
It isn't bad enough the families have to deal with the loss of their loved one. This swine had to add more grief to the families
Now that’s funny! I didn’t know De Palma was making a comedy.
not to mention the “association” the slime intended for Rush.
Abraham Lincholn where are you when we need you?
The guy in the picture is wearing an Army uniform, except the color is wrong. At first I thought it might be due to the "rendition" of the colors in the image, but the rest of the color tones seem right. It almost seems like they made up a uniform that almost looks like Marine marpatt, but isn't.
Oh, and the rank tab, and the title "Specialist" is Army-only. So are they defaming the Army or the Marines? They need to be more accurate, so I can either be pissed, or really, really, really pissed.
I somehow don’t think its about the money for these people. Its about about making God-loving, Troop-supporting Americans angry. Its about making people on the Left hate their country and feel ashamed about being an American.
Money?, Thats way down the list of reasons for making movies like this. They may take a beating at the box office, but its their red badge of courage they are happy to accept, just for the opportunity to hurt us where it hurts the most, our love for God and Country.
Figures the Hollywood types do not even know the different uniforms of our armed forceas.
That gross of 21K is beyond awesomely bad!
You’d expect more revenue from a film where you managed to get all your friends and acquaintances to the theaters, and were a novice or zero-profile director with no track record. Yikes, that’s bad. Yes, movies like Lions for Lambs and this one, though very different, are doing poorly because most of the viewing audience has seen through the do-gooder (L for L) and do-badder (R) propaganda devices of the Hollywood “community”.
That’s only $21,541 more than I grossed last weekend, and I didn’t even release a movie.
These movies are not being made to be profitable inside the USA. They are for the worldwide hateAmerica audience - a world where dvds and videos can be passed from home to home when electricity is available to view them.
Yeah - what's up with that? How much longer are you going to make us wait? And don't throw a change up and hit us with any of that "Razor's Edge" kinda stuff either.....
The budget was estimated at $30 million with Cruise and Redford taking a cut in up front pay for a deferred piece of the gross. The word gross is the key. In normal deals the picture must do 2.5 times the budget at box office just to break even. That means at least $75 million for Lions. But, because of Cruise and Redford getting paid out of gross receipts the real number will be closer to $87 million.
Foreign and DVD will not rescue this turkey.
Understand also that a huge chunk of the foreign DVD market is buying boot-leg product. The studios get zip on those.
***This movie was not made to sell in the US, it was made to tarnish the President and the US military in the eyes of the world.
It will do gangbusters when its released overseas.***
You are so right on this. Few movies are made for Americans anymore. It is the world audience they play to.
The studios get zip on those.

But the audience still gets the anti-American message, which is the main point of the production.
I happened to see a clip of Meryl Streep on a morning TV show. It must have been on youtube as I don’t turn on morning TV. She was totally inarticulate about this movie. She could not explain what it was about, because telling the truth would not have been very smart, and she was not very adept at waffling.
