doesn’t mean all that much. i happened to be a cbs newswriter when they went on strike in 1987. the few who put their loyalties to their families above their loyalty to the glorious october revolution — went to work to keep food on the table — had their tires slashed and so on. jesse jackson came to address the striking writers, thereby assuring that a bad word would never be said about him on cbs. and so on. but you wouldn’t have been able to tell any difference in the product.
