Does this mean they will be reduced to reporting the actual news?

the fact that the news writers feel a connection to the fiction writers and the comedy writers should tell us something.

Yes, don’t be surprised when you find that Walter Cronkite has “returned” to the air to declare the war unwinable.

Damn, more CBS reruns... CBS should be happy, the ratings will probably go up.

Tell me folks, if a writer’s strike took place and no one was around, would it still make a sound?

doesn’t mean all that much. i happened to be a cbs newswriter when they went on strike in 1987. the few who put their loyalties to their families above their loyalty to the glorious october revolution — went to work to keep food on the table — had their tires slashed and so on. jesse jackson came to address the striking writers, thereby assuring that a bad word would never be said about him on cbs. and so on. but you wouldn’t have been able to tell any difference in the product.

Scrappleface will probably come up with a headline about the Democrat party (or the Clinton campaign etc) demanding an end to the strike.

How much will this cost the Dems in free publicity?! Oh no, whatever will they do??
