The father of a Washington woman slaughtered along with her new husband - allegedly at the hands of a convicted Bay State killer - said his daughter’s accused murderer never should have been released from prison here.
“It’s because of stupidity in Massachusetts that my daughter is dead,” said Darrel Slater, 55, who is preparing to bury his daughter, Beverly Mauck, 28, and her husband Brian Mauck, 30.
The couple was executed in their home in rural Graham, Wash., Saturday after an alleged argument with Daniel Tavares Jr., 41, who in 1991 pleaded guilty to hacking his mother to death with a carving knife in their Somerset home in served 16 years for that crime.
But the Globe, at the time of her appointment, simply cared about the number of women Romney appointed to the bench.

He killed his mother and assaulted prison guards, yet this judge releases him on personal recognizance? What kind of “judgment” is that? I don’t supposed the Boston Globe bothered to report on his release, before these two new victims were murdered. Is there a way to remove judges in Massachusetts? The DA’s office might think about hiring a spokesperson who could bring situations like this to the attention of the public, so at least people would be warned.

Nothing new. How many thousands of innocent people end up robbed, raped, maimed, killed because of lenience towards the bad guys?? The toll has been incalculable. Seems that you can’t even blame a Democrat governor for this judge being on the bench. Pretty sad. Of course as long as the American people just accept this nonsense, it will never change.
She told police officers she and her husband "were having sex" at 7 AM, the time of the murders, when they were interrupted by the sound of gunshots, but later she broke and admitted she was bullsh*tting.
The big reason for the murders?
“He claimed that Brian Mauck verbally insulted him and that Beverly Mauck verbally insulted Jennifer Tavares, and that ‘after spending 20 years in prison’ he was not going to put up with being called an insulting name,” the News Tribune reported, quoting court documents.

''We can count on them to be law-and-order judges. Patronage has no place in hiring and appointments."
Romney has argued that political views don't matter when it comes to enforcing the law. The legal community celebrated the governor's new rules for the Judicial Nominating Commission, including a ''blind" first phase of the selection process that removes names from applications to ensure that candidates are judged on merits alone.

May this judge Tuttman rot in hell. I’ve always said judges should have to live in those neighborhoods that they release these criminals into. Judges whould have no more personal protection than an ordinary citizen.
Judge Kathe M. Tuttman, the lenient judge is the one person who could have stop the murderer. The worst thing about it is that she will not learn that evil must be destroyed and she will let more killers go unpunished, free to repeat their evil acts again and again.

Judges can be recalled by petition in Massachusetts, but the Legislature (being almost 90% Democrat) would certainly find a way to kill it. I know that people who haven’t lived in Mass. wonder why Mitt Romney would ever appoint a Democrat to a judgeship. The reason is that there were few eligible Republicans in the state of whom the legislature would approve. Today, there are even fewer.

Mitt Romney is placing too many prosecutors on the bench, but they appear poised to approve one of them, Superior Court nominee Kathe Tuttman.A 17-year veteran of the Essex County district attorney's office, Tuttman currently heads the Family Crimes and Sexual Assault Unit there. The 54-year-old Andover resident acknowledged her shortcomings during Wednesday's hearing.
"I haven't had civil litigation experience," but as president of her synagogue, Tuttman said, she has been involved in negotiating several contracts and in rewriting the congregation's bylaws.
While Tuttman herself was not challenged by councilors about her prosecutorial background, such questions were directed to those who came to endorse her candidacy.
Councilor Christopher Iannella, one of the four lawyers who sit on the eight-member council, has been a constant critic of the administration's propensity to appoint judges who have spent most of their careers as federal or state prosecutors.
"I personally think we have too many," Iannella said, speculating that three out of every four Romney nominees have such backgrounds.
