(VANITY) Outage? Anybody experiencing weird communications glitches today?

Posted on 11/21/2007 1:56:21 PM PST by hispanarepublicana

Can't access data on PDA Phone, and "all circuits are busy" when I dial my cell provider's cutomer service lines (all of them). Local stations are inaccessible on DishTV. I know there was a major line out of Dallas down on Monday that mucked up air traffic at DFW, among other things, but yesterday everything worked fine for me. I've searched Google News but can find nothing regarding what's going on today.

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: communications; outages

My wife was angry at me earlier. Does that count?

Haven’t had any computer problems...

I’ve had no computer problems....just cell problems and problems contacting cell provider on a land line.

Yeah, my granddaughter was playing with my cell phone in the WaWa convenience store this morning, and dropped it in the trash can by mistake.

It glitched up my entire morning, as I was SURE someone had picked it up and left the store. I almost went out and bought a new one.

Then at the last second I used the payphone outside to call my cell, as I walked around the store listening for the ring.

Luckily, I heard it coming from deep inside the trash can near the coffee counter.

Seems my granddaughter was too embarassed to tell me she had lost my cell phone.

My AT&T (Cingular 8525 Phone) access from my PDA phone seems to be working properly. I just signed on to FreeRepublic and the latest posts are there.

Indiana and my office couldn’t place or receive outside calls for about an hour. Fixed now.

From Today's Space Weather

3-day Solar-Geophysical Forecast issued Nov 20 22:00 UTC

Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to continue at very low levels.

Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to active levels. On day one and two (21 and 22 November), activity should remain at unsettled to active levels. Isolated minor storm periods at middle latitudes and major storm levels at high latitudes are possible due to the continued effects from the coronal hole high speed stream. Activity levels should decrease to quiet to unsettled conditions on 23 November.

Emphasis added

It's been really quiet for a long time in this sunspot cycle, but occasionally there have been some Mass Corona Ejections, just to make sure we know what is really the cause of Global Climate Change.

Well, I did hear that a major T1 line went down when a construction crew in Dallas tried to remove a stick from someone’s butt earlier this week.

I generally don’t have problems doing it. If the response takes a while to develop, it sometimes loses the address for posting. I have to back out and try again.

It is best for keeping caught up on the news headlines, but it can be used when you want to.

A real payphone? Where do you live, Mayberry?

The last one in Chicago was stolen back in 1995.

I am in Georgia. Guess what, this afternoon I kept trying to call a couple state offices and never did get anything done because the phone kept going dead. I was using a regular office telephone, not a cell phone. First time I was talking to the receptionist and it just went dead. I assumed she hit a button and cut us off and called back and twice the company’s phone did not even ring right, it was just dead. Then I got through twice only to be suddenly cut off after about 15 seconds. The first time I got through again I started out by joking, “What’s going on over there in -” and was cut off again. This was from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET. I don’t know if it is connected to your problem but still was strange.

The words high speed and hole should never ever be used in the same sentence unless they are referring to a bullets flight path.

I am in Texas.

We lost power for an hour here in GA.... (truly!)

A dead pine tree fell across a couple of power lines...
A little quick chain-saw action by the EMC... tada!

And it is the day before Thanksgiving...
Everyone flying... or e-mailing... or calling... etc....

JMHO...
