U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC) formally endorsed Mike Huckabee for President in a conference call with supporters late Tuesday.
"Mike Huckabee is a conservative focused on the future and rooted in principle. He's also the candidate best able to unite Republicans, appeal to independents and win over some Democrats. I'm glad to be on his team," Inglis said.
Former Arkansas Governor and Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee welcomed Inglis's support stating, "I am honored to have Congressman Inglis's endorsement. Bob's wealth of experience in Congress and principled leadership are tremendous assets. I look forward to working with Bob and other members of our South Carolina leadership teams in ensuring a successful January 19 th Primary Day in the Palmetto State."
Inglis is serving his fifth term overall in Congress. Initially elected to represent the Fourth District of South Carolina (Greenville, Spartanburg, Union, and part of Laurens County) in 1993, Inglis stepped down to run for the United States Senate in 1998.
He was elected to Congress again in 2004 and re-elected in 2006. He serves on the Science & Technology Committee and is Ranking Member on the Energy & Environment Subcommittee. Inglis also sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee during the 110th Congress. He currently co-chairs the House Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Caucus.
Inglis joins an already extensive team of South Carolina leaders supporting Mike Huckabee for President. In February, Huckabee announced the support of the family of Former Governor Carroll Campbell, with Former First Lady Iris Campbell serving as Honorary Co-Chair and Governor Campbell's youngest son Mike Campbell as State Chairman. In May, Former Governor David Beasley and his wife, Former First Lady Mary Wood Beasley joined the Huckabee campaign. Last month, former State Republican Party Chairman George Graham joined a series of legislators, including five from the upstate in backing Mike Huckabee for President.
Huckabee will return to South Carolina this Saturday to attend the USC-Clemson football game, where he will campaign with former World Wrestling Champion Ric Flair while meeting and greeting supporters beginning at 5:00 PM outside the West Entrance to Williams Brice Stadium in spaces 433-434.
On Sunday, Huckabee will speak at services at both Gateway Baptist Church in Irmo and the First Baptist Church of Fountain Inn, prior to attending a Meet and Greet at the home of Senator David Thomas in Greenville and a Sportsmen's Meet and Greet at the Spartanburg Gun Club, which is located at 180 Fretwell Rd in Spartanburg.

Healthy People 2010
Breaking News?
Huckabee is on a roll, there’s no denying that. His engaging personality and presence has even worked on the MSM, against all odds. If only he had been a better governor.
Congressman Billy-bob ?
Clicked the wrong box, hey it’s almost turkey day:)
Heh...
One politician endorsing another politician = dog bites man. It’s hardly “Breaking News.”
Ah...lol...have another piece of pumpkin pie then. :-)
So, Inglis is for Shamnesty and the Dream Act???
Not to mention that this happened in a conference call yesterday, per the article.
Yeah, clicked the wrong box, too close to the holiday man. Have a happy thanksgiving!
Inglis is a nitwit, so no surprise he’s casting his lot for pro-illegals Huckster.
You do the same, have a happy thanksgiving!
“Bob Inglis”
There’s been a lot of a puff pieces on INglis lately on how he’s turning to global warming cap and trade and pro-illegals.
The money told him to support Huckabee.
Inglis is poison.
Inglis along with Graham both need to be taken out in the primaries. They’re serious embarrassments to the SC GOP.
Must be, birds of a feather, pro-amnesty! And Inglis want to stop smoking in NC, hope he tells the NC tobacco farmers, I'm sure he will get a lot of help with his new job search.
Where does Huckabee really stand on the issue of illegal immigration? At first glance of all the chatter, some of the news stories, and the editorials out there floating around, one would believe that Huckabee is, not only soft on illegal immigration, but actually, farther to the left of the issue than our current President. After reading all of the stories out there and listening to the facts in the case against Huckabee, I was beginning to have some serious doubts about the sincerity of this candidate myself, who is admittedly a strong Huckabee supporter.
However, upon doing a little research on this particular issue I discovered that, as usual, there is more than one side to the story. Evidently, the truth of the matter goes a little more like this: Huckabee opposes illegal immigration, supports sealing the border, and opposes amnesty. In a perfect world that would be enough, but this is no perfect world as we all know. The fact of the matter is that there are millions of illegals in this country already, and there is a constant flow of them across our borders each and every day. Another fact, Huckabee supports the deportation of illegal immigrants, but he believes that the process should be a better one.
Case in point is the 119 illegals deported in an Arkansas raid of a plant in 2005, in which officials, without having properly done their homework, proceeded to deport the illegals leaving their children behind here in the states to be a burden to our already overloaded system.
Also, according to the Arkansas State Constitution, children of all ages, whether legal or illegal are entitled to an education. Huckabee following the logic of the state's Constitution, supported allowing children of the illegals to attend Arkansas colleges at in-state rates. Bear in mind these are not individuals who came here illegally, but rather the offspring of those individuals. Holding said offspring responsible for the sins of the parents is like holding anyone else responsible for some crime committed by their forefathers. This is a preposterous notion, a dangerous road, and completely inconsistent with the ideology of compassionate conservatism.
Now, before anyone goes hysterical here, let me point out that we are not suggesting that illegals, who are definately in violation of the law, be given any form of amnesty, nor is there any promotion of the idea of an open border here. However, as in any crime or act of wrongdoing their are always innocents involved who may become collateral damage. Let's be clear there should be a secure border between the U.S. and its bordering nations, there should be no amnesty, and there should always be consequences for breaking the law, but we must remember to follow the ideology of compassionate conservatism as well. After all our system is a system of checks and balances, and we must not forget that there are two sides to the scales of justice. These are the principles that guide Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee. These are the principles that should guide every American.

Yeah right, now all tax hike mike needs is about 30 million dollars and then he might have a chance...
You do know their is a Freeper named CONGRESSMAN BILLYBOB ?
Who really is a CONGRESSMAN.
Apparently Bob Inglis is someone different, so maybe your comment is valid.
Just so you know. FR’s “Congressman Billybob” is NOT a sitting Congressman. Though, last I heard, he was running again.
A page straight from jorge bush, I'll call amnesty something else like comprehensive reform, the backward voters will buy it. It is plan and simple the Huckster is a nanny state pro-amnesty clown.
It pained me to see that after winning election in S.C. again, Inglis has thrown his lot in with the so-called Main Street Republicans, the Soros-funded moderates that support nomination compromises, feud with the Club For Growth, and that loudly crowed two years ago about killing White House plans to drill in ANWR.
