(It's not easy being a Run Paul defeatist on Iraq, but a few annoying freepers work at it.)
The objectives are being achieved in a reasonable timeframe. Those who thought a new democracy would set overnight have been watching too much television.

(Greetings from a kinder, gentler Iraq. God bless US and Coalition Forces.)

All arrows point to a fully failed jihadist movement. It by all indications was doomed to failure from day one. For Iraq as has been stated by many for a long time is not a one sided Islamic state. It was multi-ethnic/cultural/sectarian for a long time (granted the Sunni under the butcher ruled the roost).
Iraq is ripe for this transition to take place given sufficient outside forces. The same goes with the Persians. And one must be reminded of many provinces in Pakistan where one does not find a bunch of dirty goat herders living in filthy backward villages, but rather sophisticated, modern cities and towns, with people wearing suits or casual western dress and holding down jobs in the industrial, commercial, social sectors, playing say polo or going to the movies on the weekends (whatever).
I am sure the folks in Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain do not want *ssholes running around their towns blowing *hit up.
The muslim world is to a large degree ready to change it's ways. If Pakistan was so one sided in seeking fundamental Islamic rule, surely one would not be seeing millions of people on the streets crying out for a return to free democratic elective processes etc..
All is not what it seems to be on the surface.
