excerpt: A man has been charged in Carlisle, Pennsylvania with filming police officers during a routine traffic stop and faces up to seven years in prison for "wiretapping". Brian D. Kelly is charged under a state law that bars the intentional interception or recording of anyone's oral conversation without their consent, reports the Patriot News. The criminal case relates to the sound, not the pictures, that his camera picked up. His camera and film were seized by police during the May 24 stop, he said, and he spent 26 hours in Cumberland County Prison until his mother posted her house as security for his $2,500 bail. Police also took film from his pockets that wasn't related to the traffic stop, he said.

I want to upload to youtube, but for several I can't/won't

* Don't have a mechanism to get it on my laptop.

* I need to make a copy and save the original - due to threatenings from the MHP regarding subpoena.

* I want to talk to an attorney before anyone sees it.

However, this particular cop seems to have overstepped his authority. The filmer had broken no laws, had not been detained or arrested, and was on public property. Therefore, she was OK.

Look, yes you were within your consitutional rights, but would there have been a real problem with not filming them? There was no police misconduct or other such activity taking place, and I don’t think I’d take kindly to someone leering at me with a camera while I’m trying to unwedge my food from the alternator belt of a 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis.
