Ron Paul: Terrorists are just "hoodlums and convicts" (America is to blame alert)

Terrorists `Just Hoodlums’

The greatest threat to the nation, Paul said, is an overextension of the U.S. military and ``involvement in places we shouldn’t be.’’ Terrorism shouldn’t be fought by waging war on nations, he said. Terrorists are ``just hoodlums and convicts, so to speak, but we incite them with our foreign policy,’’ he said.

Did anybody catch the interview where he said this? Because I want to verify this. Because...wow.

That's just stunningly ignorant.

The most dangerous aspect, of course, is the notion that this is all just a ‘law enforcement’ issue.

It’s a war, Ron.

‘Peace in our time” is still a bad idea.

I can't recall any of them ... Pubbie or dhim ... offering their reaction on September 12, if they were the CIC.

We hear a lot now about how the effort has failed ... or we're done with our part .. or something like that ... but what would RP had done on 9/12 and following if he'd been CIC?

Actually, I don’t disagree with his assesment, I’ve said the same myself, however, when you can kill hundres of innocents at one blow, does it really make any difference what their motivation is?

“Hoodlums and convicts”, my eye. Why do most on the left and even some on the right dismiss the terrorist threat so easily? Thousands of ruthless, ingenuous terrorists are desperately trying to murder Americans - why is this a concern that just doesn’t rate for so many people?

You can find flaws in George Bush’s handling of the war on terror, but at least he’s willing to wage it. He has been serious about it. The more solitary he becomes in this, the more I appreciate him.

Yes, needs watering now and is not qualified to run for anything. I would not bother to water such a plant. Both parties in general, and the administration deny the historical record and institution of political Islam, Sharia law...it is quite perilous to invent concepts of Islam that are not true and base policy on them.

Obama is an Apostate Muslim...a link defining his life and the national security risk of having such a one in high-office is detailed here: http://www.freedomsenemies.com/_more/obama.htm

“ Muslims view Obama as first a Muslim and then as an apostate Muslim. He faces the death penalty in nearly the entire Islamic world”..excerp from the above link. He was a Muslim for 27 years under the name Barry Soetoro, and ‘coverted’ from Islam to Christianity as an adult..his church may not have been a legitimate Christian church. Lots of info on his church in the above link, and its disturbing creed. He adopted his fathers’ MUSLIM name about the time he became ‘Christian’ as it had been recommended to him as a child to convert if he wanted to become the first US ‘black’ President, why did he not retain his previous name?.....read the link. Here are some sobering thoughts: Barack Hussein Obama, identifying himself for some years as a Christian, was a Muslim for 27 years. His conversion to Christianity is murky AND, ask the question ‘Is there anything to prevent him from potentially converting back to Islam shortly after taking his Presidential oath on a Bible/Koran? NO!! (Rep. Ellison of MI was allowed to take his oath on Thos. Jeffersons’ personal Koran (Jefferson had studied Islam in an attempt to understand the enemy during our first war as a country, the Barbary Wars). As an APOSTATE Muslim, any Imam in the world or thousands of Imams can issue a demand for his return to Islam, and, on refusal can issue a fatwa for his death... as POTUS there might be a tsunami of such calls from the Muslim World...the political leverage in either case is a clear, MASSIVE national security issue for the United States. One has to question the motives of the Dim party for presenting him for the candidacy. Other disturbing features of his life and social interactions are a potential dynamite keg as well. Read the above link. While our currency is debasing rapidly, nations are dumping our currency and not readily loaning us $1 trillion every 15 months by buying Tbills, the next administration will be financical beggars..and, Muslim political demand and pressure will be exponentially high. Dems and Reps and independents may be shocked if Obama is presented with conversion demands from the whole Muslim worldwide, and...and...succombs to them. The potential is rather jolting.

“What the heck do some “conservatives” see in him???”

For some it may be his promise to bring back true Constitutional government. It’s an empty promise. It’s going to take a lot of bleeding and burning to fight our way back to where we should be on that.

For others, it’s just another way to dress up the cut and run pig without having to submit to the rest of the idiot leftardicnesses.

For more than a few, it’s a way they can pose as conservathuglians and help sow discord among the ranks of the enemy.

well, I think Paul is right. The only way to destroy the greatest nation on earth is to provoke us to destory ourselves. These thugs and criminals are incapable of doing it themselves.

And our foreign policy is not helping, supporting the Saudi criminals and Egyptian tyrants, plus, look at what is happening in Pakistan, 10 billion wasted to spread the military socialism and the money is spent against India and we expect terrorism to decrease? If I was a Pakistani citizen I would be upset over the support of the United States, financially and politically, to the criminal Musharaf who has thrown thousands of citizens and journalists and opposition leaders in jail and runs a socialistic military junta which is invested in most sectors of the economy with government imposed monopolies.

So, I think Paul is not so far off in his comments, in fact, I think he is correct.

When the far left and fascist anti semites both suppport him as his anti war, anti Jewish, and 9/11 truthers (the gov. did it)propaganda fills his support sites.

Also L Ron Paul said he probably would not support the Republican nominee so:

Why are the L Ron Paul supporters allowed on Free Republic as they make Rudy seem like a pure conservative Republican.

Right. ...religious fanatics that hijack airlines and fly them into buildings and are dedicated to killing as many "infidels" as possible are essentially the same as small-time criminals who hold up liquor stores and sell crack on street corner? No difference at all, right RP? "..but we incite them with our foreign policy,"

No, we our very existence incites them. ...as does the existence of all non-Muslims. This whole blame America first crap is getting real old.

“... but we incite them with our foreign policy”

Well actually we “incite” them with out culture which is found all over the planet whether we like it or not. Our movies, music, capitalism and even elected government is an afront to their world view. Troops or no troops, foreign policy or no foreign policy all of these things that outrage these people would still be “threatening” their populations. Because it is the ideas, the information that is the threat. It subverts their women and children from the straight and narrow of their religion...

We are the "Great Satan" because we are the center of this cultural change towards freedom and person expression - for better and for worse.

So Paul is dead wrong. There will peace only if they succeed at stopping our culture from polluting their world or we stop them where they are before they get here to kill more of us.

This is not correct? What country is a threat to attack us? No country can risk a military war with the United States, nor can one risk sheltering terror groups who do (re: afghanistan, which paul supported action against).

Cong. Paul is also a physician, so he, like Dr. Howard Dean of the Democrat Party are not dumb. However, Cong/Dr. Paul’s comment is just ignorant and dangerous based on the facts of Jihadist ideology and this is exactly where I part company with the Libertarians that Paul is strongly connected to.

Jihadists do not live to enjoy voluntary exchange and the fruits of the division of labor. They do not seek to live in a non-coercive society. Indeed, **they reject such ideas** as ideas of the infidel, and would seek to use whatever force necessary to replace the free market, especially the free market in ideas, with the will of Ummah under Sharia.

Dr. Paul, and those who think like he does (that jihadists fight the west only because Bush invaded Iraq) ought to spend some time reading Osama bin Laden’s own words as to why he, and his supporters, struck the US on 9/11/2001. But he also ought to recall the words of the Marine hymn, “From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli...” because this is a direct reference to the US attack on the Barbary Pirates, who were jihadist Muslims who were attacking and enslaving our sailors in the late 1700’s.

Indeed, we are now seeing stunning scholarship about the millions of Africans and Europeans who were enslaved by Muslims and who still practice slavery.

The future course is clear: the world is on a collision course. Some future battle will settle humanity’s biggest question: will Islam be successfully resisted by the non-Islamic nations?

This is not a liberty issue. This is a fundamental battle against an ideology that insists on forcing every non-believer to answer the Three Demands: convert, submit, or die. Mere “hoodlums and convicts” do not make such demands. The only person who is qualified to be President until this matter is settled, will be one who understands how serious this conflict really is.

No country can risk a military war with the United States

No sane country, that's for certain. But when nukes are in the possession of national leaders who believe in stuff like "the returning 12th Imam" and receiving heavenly virgins for killing infidels then we've got a big problem. Obviously we'd win any such war, but at what cost? ...a few major U.S. cities? That's why we can't allow nuclear proliferation in the Muslim world.

I think human nature is no different in the middle east than anywhere else, the leaders use ideology and hate to control the masses and keep their power, they likely don’t really believe in the junk they spew, and the last thing they want to do is risk loosing their power and lives (they are cowards) in a war, nuclear or otherwise with the United States, IMO.

Even believing that’s true - how can you be sure they wouldn’t aid al-Qaeda in their war against America? That is the other risk of these America-hating nations acquiring WMD. They may not be willing to strike the U.S.; they may be willing to give al-Qaeda the weapons, and let them do it.

I cannot believe how incredibly stupid you are. I mean rock-hard stupid. Dehydrated-rock-hard stupid. Stupid, so stupid it goes way beyond the stupid we know into a whole different dimension of stupid. You are trans-stupid stupid. Meta-stupid. Stupid collapsed on itself so far that even the neutrons have collapsed. Stupid gotten so dense that no intellect can escape. Singularity stupid. Blazing hot mid-day sun on Mercury stupid. You emit more stupid in one second than our entire galaxy emits in a year. Quasar stupid. Your writing has to be a troll. Nothing in our universe can really be this stupid. Perhaps this is some primordial fragment from the original big bang of stupid. Some pure essence of a stupid so uncontaminated by anything else as to be beyond the laws of physics that we know. I'm sorry. I can't go on. This is an epiphany of stupid for me.
