Actually, raw fish is referred to as sashimi. Sushi is a rice roll that is rapped with various victuals.

This is a common mistake.

Thank you for you educational seminar, greatly appreciated. However, if I were to mention sashimi to the average American citizen, he or she would have no idea what I was talking about. If I say … sushi, they would. Thus my reference to sushi.
