These guys are either naive or willfully obtuse. Probably the vast majority of slavery that is going on in the world today is sexual slavery ranging from kidnap to parents selling their children. And for those who aren’t literal slaves, yeah I guess they’ve got a choice. Prostitution and food or no prostitution and no food.

Growing up across the border from Ciudad Acuna and Boystown it was common for several of my classmates to come down with the Clapp from time to time....Just about any trip to Boystown and taking advantage of the sights there ended up with a trip to the local physician a week later for antibiotics.

Many years ago, while crawiling through Nuevo Laredo, I met a female American sociology student, dreamily taping shows and conversations in Boy's Town (truth)...

I hung with her the rest of the morning so I could listen to her ideas about hookers / heroines and American males / users but not quite villians.

Probably saved me from a fate worse than death, and provided tons of really funny observations.

So how did these researchers know if these women were not already infected before they started hooking or were infected by their Mexican pimps and johns prior to meeting American customers. In most countries hookers have to go to the clinic once a week for tests. Of course a lot of diseases have a delayed reaction like 2 weeks for AIDS. But even if you go to the clinic Sat morning and the test show negative that is only good until your next customer that same day.

This was probably 20 yrs ago but, back then, it was rumored the Mex Gov checked the hookers once a week. Seems a lot of money was coming in and they didn’t want diseases ruining the party.
