It is with considerable sadness that I am about to cancel subscriptions that I have maintained for many decades... I canceled National Geographic a few years ago for the same reasons you are. I had been a member of the society since 1979. I just couldn't subject myself or my kids to the "earth first" garbage anymore.

I’m glad that someone else is picking up on the Lysenko simile. I called it that a year or more ago, when the Gore machine began proposing carbon indulgences.

Fortunately for planet earth there is no Stalin to back it up at this time. The EU and the UN are going to fill in for him.

Lysenko-Gorist madness.I like that. So true. I had to drop National Geo a few years ago. They try to re-solicit me every year around Christmas. I was starting to weaken, I love the photography and the stories (before some of them became 'Potemkin villages'). I'm glad you reminded me why I dropped it!

Does that make Ben Stein, with his new movie featuring shunned scientists who refused to play along, a new kind of “Nikolai Vavilov”? I think so.

The really sad thing is that once-reputable sources of information like Scientific American and National Geographic have fallen under the control of editors who buy into the Lysenko-Gorist madness. Add Nature, Discover, Popular Science, Readers Digest, Newsweek, Time, NYTimes, The Economist, ...... to that list. Cosmo, Vanity Fair, .....
About the only one willing to actually look at things is Popular Mechanics.
