It looks like Monkey-gate may be over. Earlier this week, Erin Burnett raised some eyebrows as she flippantly referred to President Bush as a "monkey" during Monday's broadcast of Morning Joe. The video on YouTube has over 60,000 views.
Today, on Hardball, she apologized to President Bush. "Earlier this week I was on MSNBC, on Morning Joe, and I made a bad attempt at humor...I said something stupid, I just want to make sure I apologize if I offended anyone. I do have the upmost respect for the President, I hope he has a great weekend, and Chris, I hope you do too," Burnett said.
It would have been much better if she had just reported the news and kept her opinion to herself. Sit down and STFU Erin Burnett!

"This is bullsh!t!"
Not good enough, Erin.
Not an apology - we want penance.
Sign up to be an embed on one of the FOB’s near Tikrit. Stay there for an entire deployment. Then we’ll talk.
She must be on heck of a you-know-what for Rush to put up with that kind of stupid BDS behavior. She is an attractive woman, at least on the surface.
Is it just me, or does anyone else cringe at these kind of "apologies"? This is not apology at all, in my opinion. "IF I've offended, then I'm sorry" just doesn't cut it.
I think she should be forgiven if she’s cute.
The classic non-apology apology. If you are "offended" by having your President referred to as a monkey, there is something wrong with you.
Never. She’d only pat me on the back to find the soft spot to stick the knife in.
She’s a Democrat. She’s a Leftist. No forgivness, no mercy. Because she would never do the same for you.
is Rush throwing her the B__e?
If she called him a teddy bear we’d have to kill her
saying “I am sorry if I offended anyone” is not an apology. It is weasel words.
A real apology is “I am so sorry for what I said, it was wrong and I ask your forgiveness.”
A half-assed apology is better than defending her idiocy, I guess. However, she has forever put herself in the company of stupid MSM liberals without shame or brains to recognize it.
Hmmmm.....I would love to comment on this bimbo's grammar....but I'm going to have to lay this one at the feet of the idiot who transcribed her comments.
Concur
It’s another non-apology apology from the Left.
Happens every second @ RATS underground...
LOL
All that says is that they don’t give a damn if they offended anyone. ‘If’ means, ‘If’ I offended you, you are a moron.’
And this: “...I made a bad attempt at humor....”.
Perhaps Erin will explain the joke so that we can all fully understand it.
Then, maybe her hosts can ask her where she heard it, and from whom.
Maybe we’ll know the Jokester who passed it on to her, when we hear who it is.

The classic non-apology apology. If you are “offended” by having your President referred to as a monkey, there is something wrong with you.
She has not been toeing the liberal line about how rotten the economy is and, because of this, Rush has been highly complimentary of her on his broadcast.
She was probably getting some serious grief and had to re-establish her bona fides as an “independent” journalist; hence, her comment about the President.
Who knows, maybe she’ll get syphillis this weekend.
BTW: I bet she looks monkey-like in the morning before she covers that mug with make-up.
Of course that ended up being
“I do have the upmost respect for the President, I hope he has a great weekend, and Chris, I hope you do too,” Burnett said.”
Sounds like she was ‘warning’ Chris about his ‘calling her out’ on this in the video.
What she really was thinking:
“I do have the upmost (up most of his arse) respect for the President, I hope he has a great weekend (in hell) and Chris, I hope you do (go to hell) too.”
Heh Erin, you have shown your true colors. You have burned the bridge. No crossing it. My family and I will never give you one second of our time.
Good catch with “upmost”.
Notice she did not admit to calling the President a monkey, which she clearly did, not once, but twice.
He’s not a monkey, but she’s a weasel.
She didn't even go that far. She never expressed any regret for her action - only for the consequences of her action. She never said she was sorry. Instead, she issues a 'conditional' apology - one that applies only to those offended. If someone is not offended, then no apology is issued.
At least she didn’t say Macaca!
That sentence looks okay to me, where am I and she wrong. Can you print it as a correct sentence for me? I’m so bad at English I have to press #1 just to talk. LOL
Oozing sincerity!
That's about right, though, because it takes about 3 or 4 days to hear what was on MSNBC from the 3 or 4 people who watch. Making dissemination even slower is they're connected to the Internets via the telegraph cable system.
It is like having a keyboard with only one key. Or a mouse with only one button and no keyboard. So they're probably all Mac users.
Considering all that, it's a downright speedy response.
upmost = utmost or did she really say upmost?

‘Apology’ not accepted.
My apologies. I should have included the proper editor's (sic) mark.
It should have read:
"I do have the upmost (sic) respect for the President..."
The proper word is "utmost".
There is no such word as "upmost". The closest approximation would be "uppermost"...whose meaning should be clear.
This apology is total BS.
The left doesn’t have a clue how to apologize.
Hey Erin: “Mr. President, I said you were a monkey. I should not have done that as it besmirches the office of President. I humbly ask for your forgiveness. I’m very sorry for what I said.”
That, Erin, is an apology!
No, I watched it and it was NOT an attempt at humor, she was commenting.
Yes, it was stupid.................very stupid, profoundly unprofessional and moronic.
..............but what do you expect from a liberal bimbo
Too late, monkey girl.
How about "I'm sorry." Period, full stop, done.
Her apology offends me.
-—I said something stupid-—
You are something stupid.
What a racist remark!
After viewing the apology at OP’s link, I felt she was not sincere, but it was a forced apology, which was issued right at the last minute on today’s show as a ‘Oh, by-the-way’? But who really knows but her and God?
But Sir Robert, she DID want to shove her utmost apology uppermost into the President’s ...
FYI. Apparently she issued ‘half’ an apology.
Too little too late. You blew it girl.
