U.S. War Vets to Speak Publicly About War Crimes
OneWorld.Net ^ | Nov 30, 2007 | Aaron Glantz

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov 29 (OneWorld) - U.S. war veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan have announced they're planning to descend on Washington, DC this March to testify about war crimes they committed or personally witnessed in Iraq.

"The war in Iraq is not covered to its potential because of how dangerous it is for reporters to cover it," said Liam Madden, a former Marine and member of the group Iraq Veterans Against the War. "That's left a lot of misconceptions in the minds of the American public about what the true nature of military occupation looks like."

Iraq Veterans Against the War argues that well-publicized incidents of American brutality like the Abu Ghraib prison scandal and the massacre of an entire family of Iraqis in the town of Haditha are not the isolated incidents perpetrated by "a few bad apples," as many politicians and military leaders have claimed. They are part of a pattern, the group says, of "an increasingly bloody occupation."

"This is our generation getting to tell history," Madden told OneWorld, "to ensure that the actual history gets told -- that it's not a sugar-coated, diluted version of what actually happened."

Iraq Veterans Against the War is calling the gathering a "Winter Soldier," named after a similar event organized by Vietnam veterans in 1971.

If these traitors are going to “confess” to war crimes they supposedly comitted, shouldn’t they be arrested and treated like the Haditha Marines were??

Winter Soldier Re-run with the inevitable lies and slander of our soldiers in Iraq. You can be rest assured, that unlike John F*ckin' in 1971, they are not going to get away with it again. Not this time.

Everyone in Iraq or Afghanistan is a volunteer. Anyone complaining is either a liar, or some plant. And FR will not take long to figure out which they are...

They are part of a pattern, the group says, of "an increasingly bloody occupation."

Philadelphia is an increasingly bloody occupation due to the crime rates. So is Detroit. And, let's not forget Ray Nagin's beloved "Chocolate City." The blue states are all quagmires. We should withdraw immediately, and let them take care of themselves!

By the UCMJ...once you admit a crime...its on record, and the court-martial is very quick. You have very little defense...and these investigators have gotten very smart over the past five years. If you did a crime...admitting so...you spend time in jail, period.

Not only isn't this news, it isn't even an amusing clinical observation of extreme Leftist psychosis. They simply exist. And we have to drive on the same roads as them. And shop in the same stores. It makes me feel like I have cooties.

Jim, put a bullet into this site's links. Danke Schoen.

Oh, Phil - nothing personal. Your heart's in the right place. But I'd rather watch my dog lick himself.

I guess it remains to be seen if they'll be leg-iron worthy. They're elder brothers were long on allegations and short on affidavits.

The current antiwar movement gets nowhere because all its tactics are just pantomimes of the Vietnam era. What might have had some success in 1971 is not going to fly in 2008. Whatever “testimony” these people have to offer will be transmitted by internet and fact checked. The military will investigate these stories. If the publication of Scott Beauchamp’s fairy tales is a case in point, the Army will respond quickly. Unlike the herd of unwashed derelicts Kerry led to D.C., these losers will likely face a fierce counter demonstration like the Gathering of Eagles and their friends.

I applaud these men for coming forward to admit their war crimes. I pray their sentences will be commensurate with what crimes they committed.

This time, unlike when Kerry played his game before the Senate, I hope all that admit to crimes are arrested and prosecuted, just to give these guys a clear conscience, you know.

Unlike the herd of unwashed derelicts Kerry led to D.C.,...

Assuming this ever comes to fruition (which I highly doubt), Kerry would likely try to chair some ad hoc, latter-day "Fullbright Commission". The political theatre and self-serving potential for Kerry and his MSM defeatists would be blackhole-esque in its allure.

"The war in Iraq is not covered to its potential because of how dangerous it is for reporters to cover it," said Liam Madden, a former Marine and member of the group Iraq Veterans Against the War.

One of the huge errors the insurgents made in Iraq was making it difficult for their allies in the MSM to get outside of the greenzone and take video for propagandizing Americans on the nightly news. In this regard, IEDs were truly a double-edged sword.
