Clinton Hostage-Taker Allegedly Cited Her Campaign Ad
ABC News ^ | 12/01/07 | Kate Snow

Posted on 12/01/2007 2:10:02 PM PST by jimbo123

ABC News' Kate Snow reports: ABC News has learned that Leeland Eisenberg -- the man accused of holding hostages at Hillary Clinton's Rochester, N.H., campaign office for six hours on Friday -- allegedly cited one of Clinton's campaign commercials when police say he entered the office and claimed to have a pipe bomb strapped to his chest.

According to sources, the campaign office intruder was complaining about insurance issues and mentioned a recent campaign ad widely seen by New Hampshire voters.

"She helped that guy, she can help me," Eisenberg allegedly told Clinton campaign staffers, referring to Joe Ward, a Clinton supporter featured in the ad. The intruder then demanded that Sen. Clinton talk with him. On the advice of law enforcement officials, the senator never did.

Eisenberg never actually had a bomb, authorities said, but had road flares strapped to his chest. The hostages could not see what was under his jacket and believed it could be a bomb, they added.

Joe Ward is a New Yorker who was also featured in TV ads when Clinton ran for Senate in 2000.

In the testimonial ad, which features somber piano music, Ward intones: "Let me tell you a little story. My son Joel had a terrible illness. He needed a bone marrow transplant that our insurance wouldn't cover and we couldn't afford. We called Sen. Clinton and asked for help. Her office called the next day, letting us know that the hospital was going to absorb the cost of the transplant. Now her opponents are saying that Hillary can't be trusted? I trusted this woman to save my son's life, and she did."

I feel bad for this guy but the hospital had to pay for his kids' medical costs. Instead of taking out a mortgage like many do and working to pay it off, he called the democRAT mobster and they told the hospital administrator if you want to be able to walk without the use of a cane then you'll do this for free.

Does this mean that she will talk to any nut holding hostages if law enforcement officials aren't explicitly against it?

Typical Hillary action - intimidate or threaten a hospital to perform a very costly treatment - for free. I don’t doubt for a minute Hillary would have made the hospital the talk of the town if they had refused to do as she demanded.

This is exactly what the Clintons did regarding flu shots and other types of vaccines. They intimidated and threatened the drug companies and told them they had to dispense these medications for FREE. The drug companies STOPPED MAKING THE VACCINES because they would not be manipulated into giving away their product for free.

Anybody who wants this manipulative person in the WH has rocks for brains.

Joe Ward - in his “own” words.

http://politvideo.com/Political-Videos/Elections/New-Ad-Joe-Ward.html

I think we are missing the point. Kudos to the Hillary team. It took them less than 24 hours to take a random call from a supposed constituent (and a complaining constituent at that), then run a background check on the guy, give the guy a Hollywood style screen test, call the hospital, and tell them what they are going to do. Well done team.

The hospital will absorb the cost?? No! ... the taxpayer will absorb it. Someone else paying the bills. I am sympathetic to Joe and his son's plight, but dumping the cost onto someone else doesn't cut it.

If hillary had paid the bill out of her own pocket it would have given her some credibility. I doubt that would happen.

Joe Ward (2000):  "Let me tell you a little story."

Lee Eisenberg (2007): "Let me tell you a little story."

JW: "My son Joel had a terrible illness. He needed a bone marrow transplant that our insurance wouldn't cover and we couldn't afford."

LE: "My wife had just told me she was leaving me. Then they wanted to put me away for hitting her and for drunk driving and other things.  On top of that, the d*mn insurance company wouldn't pay for the drugs I know I deserve."

JW: "We called Sen. Clinton and asked for help."

LE: "Hillary said she wanted to fix health care, and as a life-long Democrat I was SURE she would help me.  After her staff wouldn't answer my two dozen phone calls, I decided to strap on some flares and take my case right to her Rochester, NH headquarters."

JW: "Her office called the next day, letting us know that the hospital was going to absorb the cost of the transplant."

LE: "B!&$# wouldn't even come out from Washington to see me -- she said she 'understood', but then sic'ed the cops on me and they threw me into this looney bin..."

JW:  "Now her opponents are saying that Hillary can't be trusted? I trusted this woman to save my son's life, and she did."

Lisbon resident Joe Ward appears in Mrs. Clinton’s new ad running in Iowa and New Hampshire. Just as a similar spot did during her Senate campaign, it has Ward saying that Mrs. Clinton came through when his son needed a life saving bone marrow transplant, arranging for the hospital to pick up the cost.

In the summer of 2004, Joel Ward, then 13, was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy, a genetic nerve disorder. Doctors said he needed a bone marrow transplant, but insurance wouldn’t cover the estimated $400,000 cost.

A family friend contacted Clinton's office and they worked with Medicaid (THANKS TAXPAYER'S!), insurance officials, the hospital, and the community so that the hospital covered all costs.

The Wards also appeared in a "Standing up for New York" ad during Clinton’s Senate reelection campaign last year.
