Now is a NFA short barrel available for that rig or is the barrel FIXED for gun control purposes ?

FNH sells a semi-auto-only SBR version, if you have the paperwork. Or you can have your own SBR'ed by dealers with the proper license.

The barrel is semi-permanently mounted to the receiver, while the flash hider has a cross-pin fused to the barrel to comply. I was amazed that the feds let it in country to begin with.

I don't expect that to continue with a RAT administration. Same thing for the FiveseveN handgun, and the ammo. I expect the drive-by media already has breathless stories ready about how deadly this weapon is. In reality, the round provides high lethality with less danger of penetration, and is especially user-friendly to drywall interiors.

I'm gonna pick up an AimPoint Comp-ML, or some version of the Comp series NEXT! :-)

I've told you about my buddy who trains HRTs and such. Back when he was running us all over the little home-made CQB range, he had us practice with gloves on ALL the time! He said that under stress, manual dexterity and fine motor coordination are VASTLY diminished! He was right! The gloves so that we learned to perform basic operations without a very good sense of touch, or fine motor skill. When we started introducing "stress" into the drills, all sorts of freaky stuff started happening to us. I'm all about BIG mag releases, and BIG selector switches, and BIG remote light switches. A crisis is NO time to be searching for the teeny, tiny switch to turn on ANYTHING.

One night, I stepped outside here to investigate some VERY strange noises! I didn't turn the sight on, clipped the radio key in a bad place and was generally nervous. Around the side of the property a cat jumped off of the woodpile into the leaves and scared the crap out of me! I hollered out loud, hit the light, fell flat on my butt...couldn't find the switch on the sight or the light switch again for that matter...couldn't find the mic key for my radio because it's SMALL. I sat there on my butt with the rifle pointed at the cat, who was well on his way out of my area. :-)

Embarrassing, but true... stress makes us do strange things. :-) It's a GOOD argument for practice so that when we MUST react, we react the same way irrespective...instead of falling on your butt and screaming like a 2nd grade girl like I did.

“Who, after all, salivates at the thought of allowing ex prisoners the right to vote?”

If they have done their time why not? You create permanent underclass byt not giving them a way to work their way back. The recidivism rate in the U.S. is much higher than in Europe. They punish you in Europe I can tell you that their prisons are much more unpleasant than ours for the most part. But citizens are restored their right after punishment and they have fewer career criminals than we do.

Hey Rudy, the difference is... Gun owneship a Right given to us by the US Constitution,

Re #203

We are in agreement. I post that information to educate people to the fact that most felons who have served their time already have the right to vote. It's a wide spread misconception that they permanently lose that right. As noted in my #78 all states allow felons who have served their time to vote, some have restrictions, some more strict than others.

Embarrassing, but true... stress makes us do strange things. :-)

I took my first tactical class with a S&W Model 66. I was doing great until I had to reload on the move. I suddenly realized I had a deactivated weapon, had to somehow get the empties out, and then put those big bullets into those tiny little holes. The Glock brought down my stress levels considerably.

Oh I learned that stress game early on......our shoot house training was video taped . Running thru there, trying my best . Instructor would run behind us shooting blanks , sirens were blaring in the range and strobes were firing as other instructors were dropping arty simulators outside.......stress was so great that I was able to grey out and forget what I was doing. Speed reloads on top of each other . Speed vs tactical etc etc ......just fookin up like hogans goat !

After action class went thru each shooters good and bad marks.......When they told me what I did I said BS .....no way !

They played the tape.....I was amazed !

Later on when we started using simunitions I had that stress thang under control and was very aware of it’s ability to blind me and get me shot if I didn’t control it.

Good points....still hard to control if one doesn’t experience it , in training, a lot.

Further clarification: I was quoting someone and wrapped the phrase in quotation marks because I don't know how to use HTML for quotes while providing a clickable link in the same post. When I Italicize, the link will not be clickable. I know there's a way to do it, I just don't know how.

Yep , I was always, until very recent, a 1911A1 sort myself....... been using a Glock 34 or 19 for a while for day to day CHL use. Some days it’s a Glock 21 or a Glock 30 depending on reason and season.......LOL !

Glock is a utility tool of the nth degree IMHO . Combat Tupperware !

I had forgotten! There IS a pistol chambered for the 5n7!

My latest acquisition. I gave my nephew my unfired Glock 19 for his 21st birthday, so I figured I owed myself another handgun.

It's a real [muzzle]blast to shoot, recoil about 2x that of a .22LR. Other than the noise and muzzle flash, a very pleasant handgun to shoot. Aside from the Surefire LED, the only other change has been to deactivate the magazine safety. It also has a loaded chamber indicator, but I didn't notice it until the third trip to the range.

We've known far too many young-ish guys who have this glorified mental image of themselves doing the "Emilio Estevez" thing with akimbo pistols ablaze! That's a complete load of crap! We've tried it! You hit the ground hard and it almost ALWAYS knocks the wind out of you! One guy nearly struck one of his hands with a round from the weapon in the other hand! We STOPPED after that!

We'd start "visitors" with simple turn-n-shoot drills. Righties turn left to shoot...lefties turn right. You know the drill. :-) Not only could they NOT remember which way to turn, but striking the target first time every time was tough for them!

It was funny because at the time the 13 yr old was about 11, and we'd have him demonstrate. He would walk approx 7 paces away from the target, and on command from the safety "officer" he would draw/turn and double tap the target. We didn't make our visitors even holster the weapon. They were holding it in their hand! A few egos were very much deflated on that day! :-)

Adding stress into the mix increases the mistake ratio a LOT! Most people don't know they're simply going to act incorrectly in a stress shooting situation.

I watched a video of a deputy in an adjacent county here who had an armed encounter with a badguy in a parking lot at a mall not far from here. He tried to draw his weapon from the holster THREE times, while the badguy was shooting at him! But he never thought to pop the thumb clasp! DOH! Fortunately, the LEO wasn't hurt and they caught the perp a short distance away. The LEO never did draw his weapon!:-)

You got that right! NIJ TL II-A kevlar does NOT stop 7.62x25! I’m sure it slows it down a tad, but it won’t stop it!
