...so now they're pushing another RINO(s)
and they (LMSM) still can't/won't mention him by name....(FRed Thompson, the true Conservative).

Sad to say, his rise on the national scene reminds me of another wallflower Christian, Jimmy Carter. No one knew much about him and he was elected because he was a bit of an enigma. Can anyone explain why Phyllis Schlafly dislikes Huckabee?

National Defense, the Constitution, and appointment of Conservative USSC Justices to assure the survival of this country.

No ONE issue is identifiable, and the moonbat Ron Paul with his isolationism and lack of recognition of the War on Terror as an issue (blaming the U.S. for "aggravating" the Muslims, as if they care what we think) makes him a loser on National Defense from the git-go.

First and foremost, he must inspire the base to be active. Bob Dull is the perfect example of zilch for excitement.

Then, he has to be superior to his opponent.

Then, he can’t be a flip flopping milquetoast with a closet full of skeletons.

Then he has to be likeable enough to draw in a decent percentage of the independents and moderates.

The obvious question to ask is, of all the Republicans in Arkansas, why did Huckabee rise to the top to become governor?

I would have thought that Arkansas would be relatively conservative, at least within the Republican party.

But somehow, someone most Freepers considered to be no more conservative than Arlen Specter, is the top pubbie' of Arkansas.

Either he is not as bad as we are led to believe, or else the Republicanism of the south is a lot thinner than we were led to believe.

Considering he is the first GOP governor since Reconstruction, I’d guess the GOP is not the powerhouse in that state.

How the Drive-By Media Attempts to Influence Both Party Primaries...Why the Drive-Bys want Huckabee to win Iowa.

You are talking like political activists and that is because most members of FR are political activists, however for the majority of voters they first and foremost have to LIKE the candidate and after that they will look at all the issues that you just mentioned.

So ask yourself, who will be the most "LIKABLE" candidate and this guy is going to win.

Dick Morris on Hannity and Colmes tonight just admitted he’s been giving advice to Huckabee. Morris is a major backer of Giuliani. On “This Week” on Sunday, Huckabee refused to critize Giuliani’s “tryst fund” reporting, saying it is common for mayors and governors to not know how police (or anyone else) in their government are disbursing payments. Anybody besides me smelling a nice little plot being hatched here that involves a Giuliani-Huckabee ticket?

Are the voters in Iowa this dumb not to realize that the fix is in? Of all the Republican candidates, the MSM likes Huckabee best. Everyone is saying he’s the new John McCain, the scrappy underdog with a fresh message. It’s enough to make you puke. Is the Republican party being taken over by a bunch of naive hicks who’ll vote for anyone with a drawl and a syrupy accent who wears his religion on his sleeve?

...with Huckabee at 16%, Fred Thompson 15%, John McCain 15%, and Mitt Romney 12%...

The MOE is 5.

That's a four-way tie for second.

Why are saying that he is a loser against Hillary Clinton? what is your criteria? Hillary Clinton is the meanest and most unlikable person to run for President, no one with this fatal character can win the Presidency no matter how hard she, her husband, and the media try to change this fact.

Honestly, I could stomach a vote for Giuliani. I’m not sure I could do it with Huckabee. There’s something about the guy that rubs me the completely wrong way. I don’t like him. At all.

Ditto. I fear Huck far more than Rudy.

An excellent analogy. And a very depressing one, too.

Simple answer: He is a LIKABLE man and that is my FRiend and the most important trait for winning.

J, you’re the only one that seems to want discuss any thing so far. The rest of the posts are just another flavor of San Demus High School Football Rules! Huckabee out charms his competition in 60 minute debates, however, I’m nervous that at all qualifies him for a 4 year presidency. Interesting guy though. Wasn’t born wealthy, started out as a kid in radio, a former governer, lost over 100lbs, sent his kids to AR public high school but is guilty of giving illegal mexicans’ kids college aid. I’ve heard, “makes a good 1st impression, but poor second.”

You're right.

Huckabee reminds people of "Huckleberry Finn". He's a little wall-eyed. He's not pretty--- like most Americans aren't.

He's also quick on his feet, with a sense of humor. That's his "Likeability".

He's a player.
