Pets help our immune system: For years we heard that children brought up with pets in the home were more likely to have allergies or asthma. However, further studies show that children raised with animals actually build stronger immune systems than those without pets in the home.

True. It's been discovered that ingesting dirt helps train your immune system to deal with a broader variety of insults. Keeping your kids in a hygienic environment is actually bad for them. I guess pets are a good substitute (or source) for dirt.

I love my kitty cats. They amaze me everyday. They are so smart. They know what time we will come home and let them in. They know when I am fixing to bathe them and they go and hide. They can kick a dogs ass with a swipe to their nose...hehehe

I have eleven dogs and a bird and I'm hardly ever sick. Can't remember the last time as a matter of fact. This stuff works.

We have four grandsons. Three with no pets, in fact they are hardly allowed to get dirty outside. We never have a conversation with our son or DIL that somebody isn’t ill in some way or another. The son and DIL with one child also have two dogs and that child is never ill. He is also allowed to play outside, get dirty and act like a regular little boy. There is genuine merit in the immune system claim.

I don’t own a dog. There is a blue healer in my neighborhood who comes to my door a lot and comes in for a snack and a nap. It is the only dog my cats like. Also my 2 cats are the only cats she likes as well. Cause she chases all the others around here up a tree, lol..

It’s weird but it seems they all know to respect each other. The dog came by today and slept right next to my 2 kitties. Wish I had taken a pic.

Yep, animals work things out amongst themselves sometimes. Many years ago there was a Great Dane in neighborhood that did exactly what the healer does in your house, only he napped with my dogs because I don’t have cats. My dogs won’t allow cats.

I think I should be healthier. ;) We have 4 dogs and 2 cats. Basically 5 of the 6 were rescued. They might drive me nuts, but I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

When I get to look at Lainey's little face I'm reminded how much good and cuteness there is in life.

My cat makes me laugh or smile everyday. She’s a one cat comedy club.

I’ve had many dogs and cats for pets. Animals have many lessons to give us.

I don’t think my parents were ever without a dog or dogs from the time I was about 10 years old until they passed away. Most of the various dogs and cats were rescued from the streets, etc.

The animals knew a soft touch the moment they spied mom and dad. “Looks like food and a nice safe, soft place to sleep. Let’s go guys”.

Your Lainey looks a lot like my Miss Finch. If she is as sweet as Miss Finch you have yourself one fabulous kitty!

I remember when my nephew was young, his mother grabbed him up everytime he got a speck of dirt on him and washed it off. He wasn’t allowed to get dirty and he was always sick. My mama told my sister in law to let the kid get dirty for pete’s sake. Once she eased up on him, he didn’t get sick like he used to. Mama was pretty smart.

Pets are the one thing that dont care how much money you have, or what kind of day you had because they love you no matter what.
My cat is waiting for me in the hallway in the morning when I wake up. And when I go to bed, she is there on the couch watching me go to bed.
I would like to get another cat to keep her company, but I am not sure how she would handle the new one.
